Marijuana. Legalize It?
#41
If it were possible to replace the bad with equal but good memories, we'd all be cured. Not realistic to expect that in my or your lifetime. And in general people will balk at having their minds toyed with like that. There are all sort of ethics questions involved. Trust issues, would you trust a doctor to re program your memories? Is it even right for the doctor to try?

We can't assume science will advance, we have to work with what is available now, and find working solutions TODAY.

We have to invest in our future and try to get to that point.

100 years ago someone would have had you committed for saying a couple days pay could get you from new york to san Francisco in a few hours in the future. Look where we are now.

Without TRYING to get there, we never will. And saying "we can only treat ourselves" is quite frankly selfish.

I know im not going to make any friends with that mindset, due to the unfortunate things that happened to members of this site. But know that the reason I hold the opinion I do is so that people such as yourselves suffer much much less and are able to live lives untarnished by evil and unfair doings in the future. But we push that further down the path when we squander money on here-and-now partial fixes.

Im not saying end it all. Im saying when we have more, put it towards the future, not the present.

And those issues should be dealt properly! not with drugs!

Very typical approach tho. You got a problem? Take a pill/drug before anything else!

Just out of curiosity, what do you think of alcohol being legal? Doesn't it cause the same problems (more, if you include the medical effects even if one doesn't fall prey to drunken accidents or stupidity)?

I'm in favour of legalising it, but have similar feelings about euthanasia.

I feel both still need controls. I don't want to see teens killing off braincells before they have fully developed, or oldies popping an exit pill on a bad day, or made to feel redundant and worthless to their families who may well feel they’re worth more dead than alive.

^^

I'd like to see pot controlled like alcohol, and actually I'd be for a little more control and "sin tax" for both as well, as long as the taxes were used to say fund rehabilitation programs, anti-drug ads (while prohibiting most advertisement for it), etc (that is combat addiction and other problems caused by drugs, of which I mean to include alcohol as one).

As for euthanasia...no, this thread isn't about that. Start a new thread if you want my thoughts on that.

Well I conclude from this thread and poll that marijuana should be decriminalized and controlled.
