Why Washington??- D.C or the state?

And I'll say the U.K in general would be fun to live in

I spent sometime on holiday in Japan last year. Absolutely loved it (although I wasn't sure at first, it was my other half's idea for a holiday destination)

I'd live there if I could, although I did find it to be very expensive.

Will that be the UK or Japan in that time span?

Have you spent some time there as well?

I lived in Tokyo for nearly a decade. Yes, I was always filled with wonder and amazement.

Always terrified of the big earthquake hitting :O Feeling them on a nearly weekly basis was just awful! My second company (I worked as an English conversation teacher) was in the tallest building in Asia (at the time). It was built on rollers... It actually moved with the wind UGH!!! When an earthquake would hit an announcement would come on saying this was the safest building in the world blah blah blah *but many of the female workers still started to cry Poke2 Really scary stuff...

I still have many good Japanese friends there but I will tell you that I am happy that I was not there during that last big one with the nuclear accident that followed.

I also would recommend that anyone going over there to read up on conditions (non-governmental). There is a lot going on that you would not believe and of course we dont hear about!

When you live in Japan you learn to live like a native and it is not so expensive as you are also making a living in Yen, getting their health care, usually a certain travel expense paid for and things like that...

Whenever I had a long vacation I never traveled in Japan but would take a holiday to Europe or the USA where it was much cheaper to travel Party

Actually I understand that when I was living in Japan, the mid 80s to mid 90s, and compared to today it has become a lot cheaper hehehe!!!

Yes, I lived and worked in Osaka for a year in 1996 and I NEED to go back as a tourist and spend more time in Kyoto. Wouldn't mind getting pissed on Sake under the sakura.

My brother lived there for 10 years from 1990 to 2000 and originally started in Happone and Nagano where he eventually became a builder/welder on the Winter Olympic site then when work dried up he moved to Osaka.

As a tourist it is expensive, but live and work in the country, the wages are proportionate to expenses...same as anywhere in the world I guess.

San Francisco, California... if I could afford $3,000 a month for a studio apartment, that probably wouldn't let me have my cat...

I adore Montreal, but ideally I would have the ability to transport between my favourite places, the Robarts Library in Toronto, Broadway, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the National Art Gallery in D.C.. There are a number of places I could get lost in if I never had to actually work to feed myself.
