Man shoots himself over the legalising of gay marriage.

Lalo Wrote:Although I won't rejoice in this man's death, I also certainly will not waste a second of compassion for him. In his letter, he makes it clear that he was hoping that his suicide would spark an enormous backlash against the legalization of gay marriage. This speaks of a man with an enormous ego, as well as one who is deeply manipulative and who has an extremely twisted grasp of reality.

Hate-filled, selfish, egocentric, ideologues- These are the people who make up the "immoral minority" who seek to destroy our pride and deliberately turn us into second class citizens. The whole thing just disgusts me.

Yes, he seemed to be very clear with himself. If you found a translation of this letter in English, can you post it please?
Maybe people only think he was just crazy, unhealthy or whatever.
He wrote an article in his blog saying :

----------

It won't be enough to organize nice streets demonstration to prevent it [gay marriage], we must proceed to a real "intellectual reform". First, it would allow to re-conquest European and French identitary memory which the need is not clearly percepted yet.

We'll need new spectacular and symbolic actions, to awake awareness and to awake memories of our origins. We enter a period where speaches must be authentified by actions.

My translation is a bit approximative but you have the idea I think.

Sounds as if he could have been a closeted gay who just couldn't face up to the fact that other people would be able to enter in to a loving relationship that he couldn't aspire to.

Kumawool Wrote:Poor guy, clearly had some mental health problems. On one hand, I'm glad there's one less person like him, but on the other, it's sad because his life didn't have to end like this. Hopefully with the path France has chosen, the bigotry that helped to fuel this man's death with diminish over time.

I totally agree with this to be honest. Anyone who kills themselves over such an issue clearly has mental issues. Sad.

One less idiot in the world.

Nevertheless, it's no reason for cheering. All life is precious, including his.

Shame on you for saying this.
It was his choice to kill himself. We all make choices. He can't have been very stable in the first place. I take no blame or no shame.

I fell no guilt what so ever because I am entitled to this life. It's sad that he shot himself but he made the choice and he can't go back on it now.

I'd rather no fell this mans disgust for us. If he did kill himself just cos gay marriage was legalized then he was a right cunt. I fell more sorry for his friends and family than him.

From what Ive read in the press today, this guy was a right wing extremest by anyones standard.

I think if he hadn't found the "anti-gay" cause to latch onto, it would of been something else. Anti Islamist has been mentioned as one of his "causes". He had previously been in prison for being part of a right wing extremest group that were planning to assassinate Charles De Gaul (French President in the 70's)

I think whats sad is that his death is being politicised by current political parties, as I think this can only lead to further violence by any crackpot looking to get publicity for whatever their cause of the day happens to be.

At the end of the day he chose to take his own life. I have zero sympathy for him, but plenty for the 100 or so tourists who were in the Cathedral when he decided to shoot himself in the head in front of them.

Weird but in his last article, he says that as in 15 years, islamists may have the power in France, they'll delete this law. He uses this argument to say infamous laws are always deleted. He agreed with Islam when he wanted to. Biglaugh
