Zet, he told me he is gay. Just said it. He told me he had a crush on a boy at school and that boys make him feel weird inside and girls don't. He also told me that when he hears his older brother talk about a girl he likes and dated for a bit and his sister talk about crushes on boys, he knows how they feel because he feels that feeling about boys. He told me he was going to tell his sister but nobody else and please don't tell dad. I mentioned in my first post how I responded and I also reassured him that it was up to him to tell people when he was ready even if it was not for years to come. That he could trust me.
edited to add, I had a talk with my daughter after about how important it is to respect his wishes on privacy. She is so excited for him. She loves that he is so brave.

You're a good momma, and I love you a little for raising kids that understand love and humanity.
Some part of me has known since I was probably 8, when I noticed I liked comic books with developed bodies in tight clothes, but it started taking root around 11, when I figured out erections didn't always mean I had to pee really bad...

I think for a lot of people, you can retrospectively easily know you're gay. What is difficult is to put a word on this attraction.
I remember one night when I was sth like 8, I told to myself "Oh noo, I'm homosexual" and then read that it changed during the adolescence. I'm still waiting for this change now
