Look, thanks but this peoples opinions can't challenge the truth which is only one.
I believe it is possible to have feelings towards a member of the same sex and still be a Christian but the sex stuff is a abomination.

Its not opinions, if you read it you will see them qouting a lot of stuff from the bible, the strongly religious guy their is only quoting Leviticus 18:22.

This Hebrew translates to "And with a male you shall not lay lyings of a woman, it is forbidden." Well, "forbidden" isn't necessarily exact. The word "toeyvah" can mean "abomination," "detestable," or refer to unclean actions or things (those deeds or items which break the Mosaic code).

Can you see that interpreting this Hebrew is perhaps not quite so clear after all? What does that really mean? Most theologians agree the passage refers to some sort of homosexual encounter - but is it condemning them all? Is it (looking at the context of this part of Leviticus) saying men may not have sex together during a pagan ritual? That two men may not have sex on a married woman's bed? If you think some of these interpretations sound strange, just read up on the mosaic code.

Unless you have the original copy of the bible in the original language I don't see how anyone can follow the religion so loosely translated!

Whilst the issue of homosexuality -v- religion is indeed a hotbed of controversy, and there are a number of places on the site where opinions about such things have been called for and debated in an open and sensible manner, EVEN IN THOSE threads, comments like "sodomy is a abomination" go beyond being personal opinion, and do venture into antagonism and are likely to provoke strong reaction that is not in keeping with the ethos of the site.

For everybody's reference, GS is a forum for civilised, courteous and mature interaction between like-minded individuals, and is not a site for lambasting any race, creed, colour, denomination, sexual group or preference. Whilst the views of all are respected and listened-to, there is a line beyond which civilised discussion ends, and bullish behaviour starts, and this I'm afraid strays into that.

Inferences that homosexuality is in any way wrong or immoral or that those that actively practice as homosexuals are doing something inappropriate, unacceptable or are promoting inappropriate behaviour is not something I am prepared to allow to creep onto the boards, as I always tend to view GS as offering the functionality of a port in a sometimes stormy sea - welcoming all, and expecting all its visitors to adhere to a simple and appropriate code of conduct in return.

Spotysocks posted the TOS (Terms of Service) a while back, and anybody not familiar with them should read them asap.

abomination - The term in English signifies that which is exceptionally loathsome, hateful, wicked, or vile. In Biblical terms to'ba does not carry the same sense of exceptionalism as the English term. It simply signifies that which is forbidden or unclean according to the religion.

I saw an amazing documentary on the Jewish religion which I believe most of the Christian Old Testament is based on.

It was my understanding from this documentary of biblical scholars... that as the Jewish tribe was growing very small something had to be done to save the tribe.

As most of these people were uneducated, illiterate, stories were told to make a point and put the fear of God into these simple folk, to keep them safe and alive.

At that time, Pork was not cooked well enough and many diseases remained in pork when it was eaten and people either got very sick or died from eating pork. So a fantastic story was made to fear folk away from eating pork.

My childhood religion took many of its teachings from the old testiment and I was taught that pigs held the souls of demons, or was it exorcised demons... something like that bull!

I fell out of my religious teachings about 40 years ago but I still cant really stand eating most pork!!! Man, that shit works!!!

I certainly dont remember any story about sodomy, which I imagine was practiced for birth control but also has health dangers with cures unknown at the time = instant Biblical story to end that practice!

Wear a condom = end of abomination or even better still get your series of Hep B shots and go to town!!! Growing a soul patch will definitely bring much pleasure to your partner without fear of going to Hell.

Jews were always immoral-that's in their nature .We , christians have to live to a higher standard. Just because it's legal now doesn't mean it's right.
