#21
simply said the best religion is NONE

over time there has been thousands of religions and millions of gods.
All claiming to have the advantage.

You have to very gullible to believe this junk.
Believe in your self and the family, house hold that you have setup around you.

As D'Fiant pointed out there is no good religion. They are imperfect organizations created by imperfect beings in an attempt (often poorly) to connect with the Divine.

Seek instead a spiritual path that suits you (and most likely only you). The many religions attempt to meet the spiritual needs of the many, however God is a personal experience and each individual has their unique perspective on who this God Person is.

For myself and my 'Spirituality':

I classify myself as 'Christian' - although my beliefs tend to hang between Judaism and Modern Christianity. I consider myself a 'Christ Follower' attempting (albeit poorly at times) to live my life as Christ demonstrated.

I observe the Mosaic Law, not because any one religion orders me to, but because I believe that that is what God intends of me, besides the Man I am following followed those Laws while here on Earth. For me it is a spiritual connection to the Divine, a way of seeking inside of me a form of spiritual perfection. It is the striving for that perfection (knowing full well that being human I am imperfect and mayn't ever attain true perfection in life), that sets my goals for my personal 'religious faith'.

I do not adhere to moral codes, instead I walk an ethical path. I find more truth in ethics than in societies morality. Its a fine line between the two, but to me it is a distinction that is very important.

I'm not asking that you adhere to my principles or walk in my own path. My path is by virtue of my own personal experiences and has been fine tuned through the decades as I have grown spiritually.

You need to consider what is and is not true for YOU and only you. God/Allah/The Divine is a personal, private matter which is between the individual and that which we call God. Your path to God is yours and yours alone.

Yes joining a church can be rewarding, it can be educational, it can bring you together with like minded individuals for fellowship and teaching, however there is no one religion on earth that will meet all of your spiritual needs. So you will need to define what you believe to be spiritual truths for you and apply them to self.

The religions of earth have made the horrible mistake of trying to make all of humanity fit into a uniform. We are all not created equal, nor the same - we are individuals, unique in experiences, unique in perspective, as such, the Divine does not expect everyone to march to the same drum beat nor for that matter take the same road.

For the most part, they are all quite similar. Strip them down to the basics and the messages are consistent. It takes a while to sift through the corruption that WE created, though. Greedy individuals in positions of power will always try to use fear to bring in new followers or to downplay other beliefs. It's all up to interpretation.

I built my belief system by taking an eclectic approach. I pull from various sources and follow what makes the most sense to me.

Neo Pagan...for me.

I think whatever it is that works for you is probably the best choice but the second it becomes a tool to oppress and judge other people it becomes the worst choice.

I will admit that the Buddhists of Nepal seem to be the most "OK" on the planet, in regards to religion.

They try to treat everyone with kindness, understanding, and with human dignity. Most of them dont eat animals. Knowledge is EXTREMELY important to them, and meditate a lot. They believe ALL life has a meaning, otherwise it wouldn't be here on this planet.

The dont go around brainwashing people, harassing people, killing people who dont worship THEIR god, murdering, raping, torturing in the name of their god, and dont use and abuse people for their own personal gain like all other religions do.

And the real worshipers live off the kindness of others, they dont do it for power, prestige, or money.

My friend that lives outside of Seattle went there last summer and donated her time for a week, as well as brought a lot of things to give the kids over there. She loved it there so much, she wants to move there. But I know her too well, she couldnt do without her cable for too long!!!! LOL

So, if you want to check out a religion, I would check out the true Buddhism.

Other than that....

The BEST religion is just believing in yourself.
