Would you like to get married?
#11
Marriage - (groan)....

I so badly wanted to marry my first lover... I had these notions of marriage, monogamy, a life of being together until we both died arm in arm in the middle of the night in our sleep. Awwww...

Then life stepped in and bludgeoned me with realities, it beat that crap right out of my system.

By the 4th relationship I realized that it was going to be serial monogamy of tiny relationships until the monster comes out to play (Abusive men appear to be my ideal mate). By the end of my 6th relationship (14 long years of perpetual lies and half truths with little to no real love) I realized that marriage is an institution that is well past its prime.

Men are either abusers or cheaters - Thus the idea of marriage is pretty much a stupid idea as I need to be able to get away when their true self is revealed.

It will have to be a real special guy who gets me to walk down any damned aisle and say 'I do' - He is going to have to figure out some way to convince me that marriage is more than just a quaint, old fashioned tradition that has no real meaning in the modern world.

No. The thought of letting someone get that close is unnerving and I don't even want to think about it.

I'd like to.

Spent my whole life as Lone Wolf.

Sick of it.

Don't want to die alone.

Clearly you were not beaten enough to remove that silly notion.

Somebody once asked me, "Are you married? Or are you happy?"

I would love to be married but have yet to find someone to live the rest of my life with. But if I do marry it will be the only time I marry.

I've been married to the wrong person once. I'm taking a well-deserved break and settling on common relationships. I would like to get married again someday, but I will be much more careful about it next time.

Gay marriage or same sex marriage doesn't make us equal...MARRIAGE makes us equal.

Having said that, in my eyes there is really no value in marriage. When 2 people love each other and share their lives, they don't need a peice of paper affirming that. As for the legalities, that's why we have De-Facto status.

That doesn't mean that I think it is a waste of time fighting for marriage rights because eveyone deserve the right to be married if it is their desire, everyone deserves the right to be happy.

I totally agree with you on the semantic issue.

And I totally agree true love and/or commitment doesn't need to be sanctioned by any state or religion.

BUT! There are serious rights imparted to legal partners. Things like decisions to continue life support, inheritance, medical insurance, etc...

Yes, we should live our lives, but no let's not settle for less than any two-bit breeder!
