I was having a discussion with a friend of mine, and he mentioned how a mutual friend "believes in equality". Now the mutual friend is not naive, and I responded that I think he believes in fair treatment, since equality doesn't really exist. He proceeded in that IS the definition of equality, and I answered that equality indicates behavior without choice, whereas fair treatment indicates that people will choose to be fair, regardless of requirements.
So which would you rather have; equality, or fair treatment?
