You used an example from 2005, so I'd like to re-direct you to my earlier comment with the statistics. The examples you listed add up to several thousands of violent warmongering muslims. How terrifying! Except it's not, given that the total number of muslims is greater than a billion. It's interesting that you manage to oppose the broadcasting of Islamic prayers when such an underwhelming amount of all muslims in the world are violent fundamentalists.

You were not the one who made the initial statement I was opposing though, so I don't think there's anything left to address here.

My utopia would indeed be liberal and multicultural! I'm not asking you to believe in the same things I believe in (which by the way doesn't involve fluffy bunnies) I'm just asking you not to say ignorant things like "because violent muslims exist Islamic prayers shouldn't be allowed on British television where I could easily change the channel if it offends me".

I'm not one of those people who won't accept criticism of Islam. Several parts of that religion are fundamentally messed up and misogynous but the majority of muslims are peaceful. I live in one of the countries that accepts the most immigrants in the entire world and our terrorism problems have been scarce.

Around 10-20% of the students at my school are muslim, they've never raised any fuss about me being into cock? And I know what you're thinking! "Hey, individual examples like that don't add up to much evidence". Check the history of our Islamophobia debates on this site. Their government? So why is the government of all Muslim countries, make homosexuality illegal, with various draconian punishments? With the majority being a life time imprisonment, or death?


Any way, we aren't here to discus other countries, this thread is specificity about the UK and I find it amusing that the 'against' crew are from foreign shores, so with all due respect, your view point means very little.

They'll be about as receptive as Christianity. It also depends on the actual people inside the mosque. Everyone is different, even within religions. I think you're just trying to demonize something that you don't understand. You see news reports about people doing evil, so you assume everyone in their group is just like them. I think our own "group" here deals with that enough. It doesn't feel so good to be on the receiving end of that, does it?
