URGENT HELP! I need a new monitor for my PC!
#11
"Best" is a word that I somewhat dislike. In today's work I fear there is no 'best' in any manufactured item. Apparently craftsmanship and sturdy design has given way to planned obsolescence.

I think most monitors are now designed to fail within 8 years on average, some probably much sooner like 5 years.

I know the flat screen TV's have adapters and plug ins for computer monitor cable, and I think their table life is designed between 8-10 years.

Vizio named products appear to work rather well. My HDTV LED/Flat Screen is 4 years old and works very well I think it is rather large to be a computer monitor, but I note it has a place to plug in a computer monitor cable...

Then I have two gateway HDMI 22" LED flat screen monitors, both are 5-6 years old and both work very well.

Go in expecting the TV/Monitor to only be working for the next 5-8 years. Then decide how much you want to spend every 5-8 years for a replacement.

I personally found 22" to be a perfect working size for my computer needs. While I wanted to hook up the big TV for a computer monitor to play a few games like WOW, Sim City 4 Rushhour just so I can be extremely lazy and lounge on my couch... I do not see it as practical for things line data sheets, documents/writing/reading or surfing the net.

If you are a gamer and want an large screen experience, there are adaptors one can get to switch from monitor to monitor.

Did you know that Vizio is the only company that assembles HDTV's in the United States?

in 5years a 22" lcd monitor will be dead to most all people on earth including Africa as the technology will have moved on.

by the way:
if you buy a monitor get one with led back lighting.

LED/LCD/Plasma - Demonology/Technomancy - its all the same thing in my mind.

Yeah technology has a short lifespan as its always being replaced all the time. The bastads...

No I didn't know that Vizio was the only one assembled by Americans. I did ask for American made when ask what TV I wanted (I honestly didn't need/want a TV, I was very happy with my old Tube TV)...

I have a media PC (running to an LG HD LED/LCD via a HDMI cable into my graphics card)

and a generic PC (Samsung monitor)

If you are going to be using it as a computer, go a decent monitor from LG/Samsung/Similar that has good specs for what you need. If you are gaming on it, the HD-TV's are good if you are sitting futher away using wireless inputs, but anything like regular gaming and your eyes will melt in their sockets as I've experienced.
