A true shame about Gay Rights in Africa, especially when the birth of the modern Gay Rights Movement in the USA owes SO MUCH to the parallel BLACK CIVIL RIGHTS Movement pioneered by activists like Rosa parks in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963.
Maybe the Black American example can teach most African nations a lot more about equality; one possible existing success-story is the rise of Equality in South Africa, of course, but even there, many communities are still far from accepting LGBT.
Maybe another model is the Jewish Culture and indeed the nation of Israel itself; as I am from part Jewish background I am quite aware of the Jewish/Israeli struggle, but even here there are problems, such as the urgent need for the Israelis and Palestinians to reconcile within a two-nations solution, and that will include Full Equality for LGBTs in the Palestinian state as well...
