I don't know why you bothered returning as you seem to be an irrational and ignorant person.

First of all, you are not in this world alone.

If you are put on edge by the photos then the internet is not the place for you and I would urge you to refrain from using the internet to offend people with your irrational thoughts and behaviours.

Lastly, I am not a fan of guns, in fact I am anti guns. The situation in the USA seem a little odd to most of us, but it is what it is. I do believe if people want to arm themselves and it is legal, then they should be afforded the right to do so.

One thing I do object to is the controls placed around guns in the USA, it would appear to an out sider that the people that should not have acces to guns are accessing (STEALING) the guns from law abiding and rational gun owners.

I would sooner be happier seeing Saint in full amrmament than see you holding and single shot pistol...you would scare me more.

I have returned! And I return, yet again, because your insensitive replies continue to be concerning. Perhaps my previous tone was aggressive and naturally caused you to respond in a defensive way. For that I apologize. I'm also sorry I had to bring up really sensitive subjects and cause a severe reaction. My initial response to your photos was one of slight terror and anger, which is why I responded in the manner that I did.

I can understand how you would think my comments are inappropriate in light of the fact that you believe you were posting in innocent fun.

I, however, am trying to get YOU to understand that images of shirtless dudes with lots of weapons, goths, and devil horns have the potential to be EXTREMELY LOADED images, and it's fun to make them and share them with each other, I understand all that, I've done it! However, posting it on a public internet forum is an entirely different playing field. If I interpreted these images as being threatening, then in all likelihood somebody else did too. OR WORSE: somebody else, perhaps an easily influenced teenager, could come across these images and start associating GUNS with COOL or GUNS with SEXY SHIRTLESS GUYS.

I don't think you grasp the extent of responsibility that comes with posting images online. Especially on a forum that caters to a lot of teenagers, who are most likely dealing with a ton of tough shit at home, and at the same time trying to develop an identity for themselves.

I don't think a lot of people understand that responsibility, actually, I mean look at all the CRAP we have to look at constantly. It's so fucking awful. You want to know what's really fucking scary? is that "NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR SHIT" is a commonplace idea now days.

It sounds like I'm overreacting, but I'm really not. Just think about it a bit... Think about all the images you've seen since you were a kid, and what images you thought were cool, and how you wanted to make that cool stuff part of your identity. You see? No one is immune to that.

So. I hope this explains some things. All that being said, your images aren't that bad. If we were friends and you sent them to me, I wouldn't have freaked out. It's the fact that they were posted by anonymous people online that put me on edge.

The way you interpret something is your own fault, and not the fault of the artist. Don't go blaming your own faults on others. Yes, you are indeed overreacting. Visual stimuli never makes someone pull a trigger. The person who pulls the trigger makes them pull the trigger. Mental illness also comes into effect, which also has nothing to do with art. Stop trying to get the world to cater to your every little want and need, because that's not going to happen. I'm not sorry that you are freaked out, because that is your own damn problem. It's certainly not the problem of anyone else here. All you are doing is stomping out art, whether you think it is good art or not. Now stop being a righteous thorn in everyone's side.

First off, How can you NOT be judgmental on the internet!?? The internet is a completely sterile environment: no body language, no face reading, etc. Unless you develop an online relationship with someone, there is no other way to interpret something somebody says than plainly how it exists in writing/images. If I take something to "another context", it's because I'm viewing it completely out of context. And I'm saying that if I interpret it like that, chances are somebody else will too.

It's difficult to imagine other human beings (behind the user-name) responding to what you write, because the nature of the internet is dehumanizing. But yep, I'm sitting at my computer, and you're sitting at yours, and he at his, and her at hers, and we're all reading posts and having reactions that are completely our own, and sometimes people get offended, and sometimes people get scared, and sometimes people get influenced, and most of the time it wasn't intended, but that's what happens...

So... I was just trying to get you guys to realize that you're on a public internet forum. If you cared and understood what that means, you'd be more receptive to the way an "outsider" responds to something you write. The fact that you all immediately jumped down my throat because I insulted some of "your own", without considering that maybe something you did may have done damage to someone else, well, that's some sort of elitist clique mentality, and eeehhh... it kind of sucks to everybody who isn't involved.

It sounds like you guys didn't see any harm in what you were doing, and that's totally forgivable. Maybe now you'll think about it a little more. Maybe you won't. Fuck it.


A couple points in response to Vilekyle,

Interpreting "art" is not anybody's "fault", it's just what happens to everybody when they look at something. The artist is responsible for putting "art" into the world, and also responsible for what comes out of that, to an extent... You can't just throw a brick through a window and not take the blame for when the window breaks. Now, if the window breaks and then the building collapses, well, who saw that coming, right??

Of course there are many other elements that come in to play when someone decides to go on a killing spree.., such as access to guns, home life, mental illness, etc. But I don't think you're giving enough credit to images and their influence.

Why do you think advertising is so effective? Because images influence people to buy things. Images influence people to do a lot of things, and it's not just "visual stimuli" that is being sold, it's the fantasy of living that image.
