People joking about your homosexuality
#11
I've never actually had anyone joking about my sexuality. For me people usually have been either neutral or aggressive about it.

Being 6'4" has the benefits of people being too much of a sniveling pussy to say anything about it, but I wouldn't even acknowledge them if they did insult me. The second you react to insults is the second you give them a reason to insult you. Just walk around with your head held high, and pity those who use bigotry to further their means.

I'm one of the first to poke fun at myself about it. However I do not tolerate instulting jokes made by others and will be quite harsh on anyone that hides behind "It's a joke lol" to brush off being rude

My mama always says to put "her pretty work" on the corner and buy some knee pads, incase I scrape my self on the concrete lol Rofl

My mama is the first one to make jokes, like we'd be cutting something in the kitchen and I'd go "ugh! This is so hard...." and she'd be like, "and that's how we like it right?"

And I'd just go EWWW MAMA lol.

We're very close, so it's not weird...atleast not anymore. At first i was like >,>

And my girlfriends always joke about me being "the girl" cause of my looks and mannerisms, and if I'm over any of their houses or they come over mine and we're watching T.v, I suddenly become the feminine gay guy on whatever show happens to be on Chicken.

"Odi, you're so gonna be the girl"

I'd be like :I .

I love it tho, cause I could have it much worse than I do and the jokes just make everyday life fun and somewhat normal lol.

During the decades of not being publicly out, I established a very clear reputation for two things, I never tolerated people in my business to spend time bashing gays (I was not out) and I never tolerated anyone screwing with me. That reputation has carried through, and while I do debate occasional the merits of my libertarian policy of allowing people to live their lives as they chose, I have never had a single person make a comment off-color about my personal preferences face to face...

That being said I wish I had not spent so many years as a coward hiding behind fear that I had to or felt the need to establish personality traits that really were not part of my original make-up. (being a guy that was ready to fly of the handle if provoked)

Don't know if that makes sense....and lots of regrets over the decades

ETA; I sure have heard the "that's gay" reference allot and just ignore it in regards to general stuff. I maybe have even used it myself in regards to something silly .

I don't like it at work because I consider it on a family and friends basis, so it makes me uncomfortable. My friends and family joke often, and I've made a few jokes myself. It's okay.

Well, I'm not out, so people won't joke about ME...

quite disturbingly, I've heard consistently "nah, you can't be gay" "him?, nah, he's definitely not gay" while the subject of how am I the only one without a GF comes up...why is this I don't know...

the point is no ones teases me about being gay or in this case not even about the "possibility" of being gay..

that said I have to hear the endless and uber common "that's gay, this is gay, those are gay",....

to be honest I don't give a shit.....It literally causes no reaction what so ever from me..neither amusement nor anger..

It doesn't really happen to me often because I'm not totally out of the closet. But the friends that know do joke about it...

...Such as my best friend in college when my crush is around, when he hugs me, when he calls me, texts me, when I look at his ass, when I talk to him, when he sits next to me, when I sleep over at his place, when we go out together... All she has to do is stare at me so I'll know what she is thinking hehe Smile

Or the other one that goes out with me and sometimes talks about her friend (insert random name here)'s "gayness" and his crush that seems just as gay.

I don't rally care. I think it's funny because they are absolutely right! Ever since I came out to them they noticed my behaviour is a mix.

BUT I also think this is a girl behaviour. They tend to joke about each other's crush and behaviour (at least my friends do that a lot). I've seen the college friend joke about it when I was going out with her friend. All the time.

I wish more people would joke about it. My family doesn't even acknowledge it exists which is fine by me, but I've only got one friend who jokes about it, and I hardly see him. I'd like some ghey ribbing from me buddies :c
