The only thing I dislike about the pride flag, is that it's almost a copy of the Incan Wiphala (Inca flag)
That's a Wiphala Is a pride flag You can easily mistake that the city of Cusco is incredibly gay friendly, when they are just waving it's own flag ("The biggest differences is that the gay flag was created in 1972 in San Francisco, U.S. with 6 colors, while the Andean flag is thousands of years old and includes 7 colors." - Wiki)
Sometimes you need a bit of chaos in your life to be able to shrug off pitiful disdain about something meaningless.

When I came out, I lost a lot of friends and he doesn't support gay rights and he doesn't really accept homosexuality either, but he still stayed by my side and I think he's trying to understand. One time we happened to talk about gay parades and his point was that gay people may think that with these pride parades they are making straights to accept and to think about equality, but actually we're just angering them. He was like "when you know perfectly well that most straights will not accept it and you're still going around flaunting over the whole town how much you want to be accepted, then don't cry when you're bullied or beaten up, because that is of your own doing." How insecure this man must be to think that it's ok to bully people for being gay or anything else... I think our societies are trying to clean up their act about bullying and treating people differently because of perceived differences. This is just about as acceptable a way of thinking as those men who justify RAPE because ''that girl / boy was asking for it, wearing too short a skirt / behaving too effeminately" or whatever. Bullying, like rape is NOT ACCEPTABLE, period! And any man thinking that way needs to review his sense of civility ad knowledge of the law.

Wade Wrote:I understand this completely and would never judge or criticize someone on such a decision. I am fortunate that my environment is relatively accepting. I live in little college town in the middle of a big a rednecky countryside, so it's a really strange mix; it's like a tight knit little freckle of a progressive community sitting on a giant ass cheek of bigotry and ignorance. Good thing for me, I don't wander outside of the freckle all that often. So that being said, as previously stated, I have no room to criticize or judge others who are in worse or dangerous situations. Sometimes the so-called rednecks and hicks can surprise us... See The Doctor's Wife (2011) to see how being open about being gay can make a difference. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1921113/
