Uganda Passes Anti LGBT Law

The British Empire was a terrible adventure with long-reaching, long-lasting consequences and is deplored by pretty much everyone known to me personally in the UK.

However, Uganda has been an independent nation since 9 October, 1962. More than half a century seems long enough to give anyone to make up their own minds about how they treat their fellow citizens. It is certainly long enough to repeal the more repressive laws introduced by an occupying power.

I'm more interested in the disgusting and more recent interference of conservative god-botherers who, unable to get their own way in their native USA have taken their mission to rid the world of gays by spreading the hate and lies in many far away countries, including Uganda, Nigeria and, it would appear, Russia. The fruits of their labours have been far juicier.

THIS is the problem...and it will continue to BE the problem as we move forward.

Of course...this serves as a "terrible warning" for me in my own spiritual beliefs so I have a system of putting everything I believe in the table every couple of years and discarding the stuff I no longer believe or find useful ...and I question EVERYTHING.

I think some of them are just evil creatures to the core but I also think some of them are so brainwashed that it is too scary for them to reconsider anything and so instead they need to dig their heels in even further so they don't have to ever question anything. I think maybe they need to be kidnapped and deprogrammed...seriously.

Our USA Talibangicals have an agenda and they will use go to any lengths in order to realize their goal. One group has already publicly praised the Ugandan Government.

That's awful. What's even worse is the fact that there are christian right-wingers in the U.S who publically criticize Obama for publically critizicing Uganda's extreme anti-gay laws...

The West isn't always to blame. For example, no one blames the west for the Rwanda genocide. However, in this case this law was promoted and funded by western evangelicals from the United States (one of which faced a "crimes against humanity" charge in the US over it, IIRC, it was at least being considered by a prosecutor). And one of the groups spreading antigay propaganda, urging bills like this, and funding them were themselves funded by Chick Fil A. So yeah, this time the West does deserve some blame.

Interesting that the Ugandan presidents daughter has just came out as gay.

Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when she broke that news to daddy.
