Unfortunately here, a lot of the older people might be this way, cause I even have an Aunt who married my Uncle with a child already (altho he was only like 3-4 months old at the time- so was basically his son >,> ) and for a long time, it took a lot of my family a while to get used to calling the child my uncle's son.

It's that old "Islanders" mentality >,>

Cause usually children who are adopted or born out of wedlock and then brought into a new marriage are called "Outside Children" and so aren't typically thought of to be the non-biological parent's child and "back in the day" would get second best.

But now he's pretty much treated the same as my Uncle's Biological son whom he had 4 years later with my aunt.

I personally don't see why such thoughts are prevalent, I was even ostracized for being a racially mixed child long after slavery ended(though segregation had just ended around the time my Nana was a young girl(she's only 55), but I'm glad to see that not only my island, but the world is changing, however it really sucks that kids are still treated like this...

What's most disappointing, or maybe I should even say outright disgusting, is how the people that said these quotes are treating children as a commodity. "How much did you pay for her?". How about none of your business, she isn't a dog...These people just aren't thinking, but they're basing love for a child on very superficial things.

I have an adopted cousin. Growing up my father was always quick to point out that he was adopted (Review: Father is a dick), and not 'really' a part of the family. This was because of old fashioned beliefs on his side that family is in the 'blood', Which was alien to me as a child since he was my cousin, and my aunt was his mom, and I couldn't comprehend that he wasn't, so it bounced off.

Some of the milder ones where obviously a person said something silly without thinking is fine, but I'll never be willing to get into a "Is an adopted child really my child" debate. I wouldn't and won't have time for this, and neither will I let possible future children be damaged by people like this. If I have children who are made to feel like they are not part of the family, I will make sure I replace said people with better role models, friends, and family. They would deserve that.

Unfortunately Mr. Tinklers, the whole lyunching thing more often than not was used as a way for bigots to 'clean up the gene pool' buy getting rid of 'those people'.....

Sometimes "those people" do need to be "cleaned out", especially if they have nothing significant to add to the human race but backsliding into the 1950's neanderthal mentality.
