I'm not justifying either side of this particular incident. I'm just trying to give you some potential insight as to the mindset of the other so you will see that being what it is it was bound to end this way.
You can still choose to sit there and stew on it, and be pissed that your shit was put out where it can be stolen... but I have to wonder if the roles were reversed that your reaction would be similar - perhaps you may not have acted on it, but throwing 'dudes shit' out the door most likely would have been one of many thoughts in your head - no?
Absolutely not. I would be pissed... no doubt about it. And as I've said over and over and over. I take responsibility for my inconsideration.
But I would never, NEVER, put my hands on someone else's property and move it from a locked room into the hall of a college with a bunch of students wandering around. It wouldn't seriously enter my mind for a second.

But Bowynnnnn I don't think the point was whether or not his stuff was there and he wasn't, it was the fact that his stuff was moved when he wasn't there.
No matter the reason or rule, a person's personal items shouldn't be tampered with without notification to the individual at the time of them making such an infraction.
What if Wadey (lordess forbid Wadey >< ) fell down a flight of stairs or something and was rushed to the hospital? You can't say that because he over-extended his time, that his shit gets left on the floor?
He said himself he wouldn't move that person's things, so why should it be okay if they do it to him?
It's almost like an indirect form of bullying, because he this wasn't brought to his attention until after it already happened. Had his stuff been stolen, the person who moved it would've been responsible for not only displacing another student's personal possessions, but also for those possessions getting displaced into that of another.
While Wadey may be too sensitive to be irate, I'll be for him, cause not only has this happened to me, but it's common sense no matter where you are in the world.
Reverse it all you like, this person is still in the wrong. And as it is not the case that Wadey is in that person's shoes, how can we say whether or not it'd be the same thing?
Comparing Apples and Oranges, when either way you look at them they're a fruit. ( Like Wade is :p )

Im with PA on this one, what were you thinking even leaving your stuff unattended in the first place!?!
Did you know that any card can be used to get into any of the pre-booked rooms? And if this guy had to collect the card from the office, given you had already booked the room, why did they issue a duplicate for a room already occupied?
Personally I think the office are in the wrong here, and you should be reporting their actions to someone higher up in the food chain. What if you had lost everything? What if you had been making out with some hot dude on the piano, and someone just waltzed right in 
The note looks like its been written by a pre-teen. 2/10

Leaving the practise room with your belonging inside it in such a way, would look as if you were just reserving it or using it for storage. The other person would have little/no way of knowing how long that room has been locked with your stuff inside it. I don't know the system, I'm just making assumptions here.
That ofcourse, is enough for somebody else to let themselves in and use the room for what it was supposed to be used for.
I'm not trying to tell you off, or anything, I'm just trying to imagine how I would feel had I been that other guy.
That doesn't justify simply kicking your stuff out into the hallway though!!.. In my 17 years of school-going I've never experienced an actual theft, but have always been paranoid about leaving my stuff unattended. I would leave my bags with friends or in the classroom only. So for me the whole theft thing is very distant, but I can imagine if a school posts warnings about not leaving your stuff, because of an increase in thefts, I would share your views. Utterly unacceptable to simply leave your stuff like that, unattended in open space. Especially in the US?! Isn't that like a cause to raise bomb-alerts or something? A bag sitting there with no owner?

So I spoke again with the student in question today. Turns out, it was he who wrote the note and put my stuff in the hall, not the office lady. I apologized again for what my part and asked that should it happen again, to please not take my stuff (or anyone's) out of the room. He understood and apologized for his part (he also mumbled something about being sleep deprived).
... Then we started making out. Here's lookin' at you ObW!

Oh well I WAS going to say: yes you should be pissed off, no you shouldn't say anything to admins cause all in all you left your things unattended, don't do that ever again, and if you were waiting an important mail, perhaps you could have reserved the room for later.

Well that's rude... Definitely go to the office. If they're all like "Shouldn't have left your stuff out there" flip your fucking shit, "THERE ARE THEFTS HAPPENING AT THIS SCHOOL AND YOU JUST THREW MY STUFF ONTO THE FLOOR LIKE TRASH, MY PARENTS ARE GOING TO BE SO HAPPY TO HEAR WHAT HAPPENED TO THE STUFF THEY BOUGHT ME", ask to use the phone, call your parents, have them immediatly come to the school, threaten to sue the school, all the while calling them absolutely out on the fact that they don't have music room SIGN OUT SHEETS FOR STUDENTS WHICH IS THE LOGICAL ANSWER HERE.
Obviously talk to your parents before hand and tell them what happened "My expensive stuff was thrown into the hallway, and people have been having their things stolen lately" should work, and make sure they know they might be coming to the school.
I can basically guarantee this response will prevent this from happening again.
It's over the top for sure, but it'll stop them from treating you like a 3 year old (I'm gathering that's how your school's faculty treats you), and stop it from happening again..
