I was going to try to rationalize him and write something along the lines of maybe he's afraid of being rejected, and the booze gives him an excuse if it goes wrong, but knowing my history with straight/bi-curious dudes maybe this is why I always end up with my heart broken.

Never a good idea. So you 2 go at it while he's drunk. And what happens when he's sober?

Pretend it didn't happen? Let him beat you up when he realize what he did and gets mad because of it?

I think you have a gut feeling here that is correct.

Unless of course this guy starts showing interest when alcohol is NOT involved.
