Seeing as at the moment there is a thread discussing how people should revolt against the site maybe there should be a thread reminding people of why they joined and why they are still here. So the question is what made you come to GS and why have you stayed? Smile

I came here due to my confusion in life... my confusion being my sexuality.

Talking to plenty of people around the world about what goes on in their head and other areas helped me come to see who i was and where i was going in life.

It has been very helpful, and will continue to be helpful.

I joined back in 2007 recommended from a friend. Began very aware that I may not enjoy this site but thought I'd give it a try. Met some amazing people:- Andy, CardShark and Shadow to name a few still speak to all three years and years on. Now I'm replying to posts because it seems to be going a way I really wish it didn't and ruin it for others when they need help.

I was going through a very problematic relationship and really wanted some advice. I don't really have much friends and I was lost on what do since my go to person was the problem. I explained my problem and got very helpful feedback which has helped me thus far. So for that I am a happy member here and hope to offer my help here since it is the least I can do.

I joined because i don't have any gay friends and its nice to talk about gay issues, with my girlfriends its all about them, their struggles, their dating, their experiences i feel like i cant ever say things about me because they either don't get it or care.

I joined because I was struggling with my sexual identity. The members here helped me figure out a lot of things. I appreciate them for everything they've done, both good and bad. I definitely miss some of the more important of those members, who are no longer here to continue helping as they have before.

I joined during the transition to GS from QUK because I wanted to connect with other gay people from all different cultures. I have always had all straight true friends and never a true gay friend. I've been culturally deprived of gay culture living in a very homophobic place and social circles. Combine my own indoctrination and long effort to overcome the H8, even that instilled in my own being, has been both a pleasure and a struggle. Now I'm older and wiser and better! And much of it has come as a result of GS!!! Even with just lurking you can read and study and experience relationshipping here that instills hope and encouragement! I love everyone here and enjoy the variety of characters and broader worldview than just the usual porn site forum that is more prevalent historically. I am SO thankful our culture has grown beyond having to cluster to protect and survive. I hope to be a positive influence in the quest for tolerance, acceptance and peace among all people. Wavey

I joined this site because I hadn't yet come out to anyone, and wanted to meet more people like myself. I had a mental block that made it impossible for me to come out to anyone at the time, so I thought this might help. Of course, I met no one like myself, but this site helped so much with making my homosexuality seem like an 'every day' thing, it's helped me to stop obsessing over it, helped me to truly believe I, and we, are people like anyone else. It has been immensely helpful to me. If not for this site, I would probably have needed therapy.

I havn't been here long but I think the gay community has too much drama and bs. I think I get a lot better support from my straight friends and less drama outside of here. Everyone is different and I never went through what a lot of people have went through but Hell, there's a revolution going on in the forums. Although it is very interesting, I wonder what else can happen here.
