Where do I start looking?

A friend that I have for 18 years came from a gay group meet-up found on a Web site. The rest of the group and their friends, I am still acquaintance with. So I give credit to a dating/social Web site because I wouldn't otherwise meet him. Sure, I meet lesbians, transgender persons, and gay men at work, but we don't connect except on a superficial way: we have nothing really in common except our orientations.

I wouldnt go the dating site route. people use fake pics and then theres people who will rape and murder you. I HIGHLY suggest staying away from those sites.

There are people who will rape and murder you wherever you go. I don't think the chance is much higher when using a dating site. As long as you play it safe and meet people in public first (if you decide to meet someone) dating sites can be a good thing imo..
