Five Questions
Emiliano Wrote:1. What is your favorite ancient civilization to learn about?
2. Tell me something interesting about any of your grandparents..?
3. What two types of ancient / historical warriors would you want to see battle eachother?
4. Does your town/city have any bridges? Post a picture of your favorite one.
5. What is your favorite traditional food of your region or ethnicity or culture or country?

1.- Roma

2.- Two of them (dad's dad and mom's mom) were brother and sister, which makes mom and dad first cousins. The guy (father's dad) had an official family, wife and 2 kids, and my grandmother number 2 (dad's mom) was "the other woman" and he had 9 bastard kids with her, my dad included. My grandmother (mother's mom) forced his oh so lovely brother to recognize the bastard kids and register them in the Registro Civil my dad and the rest with official names. He was 20 by then, my dad and until then, he didn't have a last name. So.....yeah.

3.- Jannissaries (not exactly Ancient) and Hoplites, that would be SOME battle Smile

4.- Without any river or water body dividing it, no, there are no bridges.

5.- I hate this question because I don't think anything here is NOT influenced by something else. I mean my culture is the result of the clash of Europe and local indigenous tribes, it's not original, it's an average of the 2 things at best. You know, a Spaniard raped some Amerindian girl and 500 years later, here I am kind of thing...but with food. Plus, British, German, Italian and French inmigration in the XIX century added things too.

Now as to something that is PERCEIVED as local, I'd say tomaticán which is a colorful tomato stew srpinkled with corn, meat, onions and basil. Yummy stuff.

1.- What major battle in history would you like to witness, from a safe spot?
2.- Do you change the view on things on the holidays?
3.- Have you witnessed something truly horrible happening to someone?
4.- What is the worst thing that you think you are capable of?
5.- Same question but now with me, knowing whatever you know about me so far.

3.- I do showers, never baths.
4.- Ironclads. Those were neat.

what is your favorite quote?

Don't give any excuses. Just do it.

what is your favorite animal?

Dolphin was my favorite animal when I was a kid. Cheetah too. Nowadays, cheetah I think. Or cats. Or dogs.

what is your favorite machine?

Computer.

what is your favorite band?

I don't have a favorite band but when I was a teenager, I was obsessed with a fiction band called The Wonders. It was a 60s band made by Tom Hanks for a movie called That Thing You Do!

what is your favorite vehicle?

Nothing really. I prefer to walk whenever I can.

01. What are you three weaknesses?
02. What is your funniest childhood memory?
03. While in school, did you ever cheat on a test?
04. If you were told you only had one week left to live, what would you do?
05. Who was your first crush?
Reply

1) 3 weaknesses:
Food, distractions and social media.
2) Funniest childhood memory:
Blimey where to start? I suppose when I was about 5 or 6 and a month after moving into our new home we went round the neighbour's house, most of the street had gone round. I thought I was being really grown up by joining in the conversation and saying "my Dad says the milkman is a lazy bastard". I think the milkman was well-loved locally.
3) Ever cheated on a test?
No, I don't think so, but I was almost thrown out of a test once because the old desks we had to use for exams had all kinds of graffiti on them. Mine that day had "Amy Rose has hairy inverted nipples and a hairy bum and chest". I found it hilarious at the time plus with the strict silent atmosphere I struggled to keep myself under control. Oh and poor Amy Rose, whoever she was.
4) One week to live:
I'd come straight home and spend it with my loved ones.
5) First crush:
Some guy a couple of years above me in school. I have no idea what his name was. I think he had brown hair and was skinny.

Okay my questions for someone else:
1) If you could take any degree, all expenses paid including living costs, what would you study?
2) What's your oldest material object possession?
3) If you could be part of a historical event, which would you choose?
4) If you could have a relationship (not just romantic; can be friendship) with any living person, who would you choose?
5) What was the last thing to make you smile?

2) What's your oldest material object possession? - ehrm, the electronic key-board?
3) If you could be part of a historical event, which would you choose? - the age of enlightenment
4) If you could have a relationship (not just romantic; can be friendship) with any living person, who would you choose? - Joseph Fiennes
5) What was the last thing to make you smile? - a hand-some kid

1.- Pharmaceutical chemist. Way more profitable than my current job because in this country science is not an elite job :/
2.- A Grundig radio my grandfather bought in Germany in the 60s. Still works.
3.- Octavian's victory over Marc Anthony at Actium. Bloody brilliant.
4.- I will keep this to myself.
5.- A phrase someone in this forum said to me. People here in general manage to get me smiling Smile

I did play the avoidance card there a bit.

1.- How many mental flow charts do you use to get through the day?
2.- What is your definition of "the purpose of life"?

4.- How many ppm of Fluorine does your current toothpaste have?
5.- Favorite metal, favorite non-metal and favorite semi-metal?

Reply

1.- How many mental flow charts do you use to get through the day? - no flow-charts foh me
2.- What is your definition of "the purpose of life"? - to be able to live happily with-out restrictions from haters
3.- Do you enjoy social gatherings or not? - i kinda like 'em, i actually enjoy knowing that my presence is being felt by other people
4.- How many ppm of Fluorine does your current toothpaste have? - idk, i don't wanna know 'cause people keep on convincing me that it's bad, not that they know the science behind it, but, for all i know, F- keeps a very strong bond with other elements, especially those of group IA, so if any amount of Fr or Cs is present in your buccal cavity, it is nearly impossible for the F- to unbind themselves from these highly electropositive elements. So whatever rumours you hear about F- being a bad ion it is best to clear them out.
5.- Favorite metal, favorite non-metal and favorite semi-metal? - sodium ('cause it cuts like cheese =D), fluorine, ('cause it F#cks with every-body), germanium ('cause it's weird and unknow-able, lel)

Alto Wrote:Jeez is EVERYONE on the Internet an Atheist !!!

Facepalm

Earth, life and humanity is not a belief its a fact, it's not an antidote to thinking there is some design to this world and thinking that blocks out any morality, you don't say it you imply it.. I'm so tired of hearing the same thing and it means nothing

That's funny. Everywhere I got on the internet I see religious bullshit and references to a gawd.

Perhaps both you and me are focusing on what we don't like and we seem to find it everywhere.

To be honest, as equally irritating you find it to read Atheism, I for one am sick and tired of that piece of shit religious bullshit and beliefs and god this and god that crap online.

But you know what? I have to cope with it. Same goes for you. Go read something else if it bothers you.

Show me any kind of proof that there are deities and I will take you seriously. Until saidf time, I'm keeping the knowledge we have about how "humans, earth and life" work, because so far all of those can be explained, with evidence and without resorting to a "deity" or "superior design"

As for the highlighted part, morality is an inherently human psychological trait that makes up a set of rules within a personal and social context. It has nothing to do with any deity crap or religious bullshit. This is particularly interesting to note seeming how many people that believe in deities and follow religious "moral rules" deem our "condition" of homosexuality an immoral one.

Tell me, do you feel immoral for being gay? These people think you are.

Now tell me, of what you know of me, do you find me immoral? Does my atheism make me immoral? Please do tell.

Now it would be best if people would keep their throughts on gawd to their fucking selves because it only calls for problem.
