East was right about endorphins but I'll take it further. Endorphins are the strongest, most reliable and the CHEAPEST treatment for depression known to medicine and psychology.

There's only one problem with endorphins. Doctors writing prescriptions for patients to get more exercise are frowned at by most insurances and big drug manufacturers who have a direct line to the doctors' income.

But... that's going to be changing in the US during the next few years.

SO TRUE about the depression and endorphins...it has been my "little secret" for years. I have had bottle of unused meds in my cabinet that I have given away. When I have a strong fitness regiment in place...there is no need for them.

A lot of doctors don't like hearing this though.....so I have learned to keep my mouth shut so I don't piss them off....

I had a kidney stone stuck in me for four VERY PAINFUL months. I had a lot of bleeding as it left my kidney on it's journey initially but it would not pass and everytime I had to pee it felt like tiny razors eating me up.....

I went to the hospital on multiple locations begging them for a solution. They said they could do laser when it was in the kidney but afterward I just had to pass it or they could do an operation that was scary so they threw lots of vicodin at me.

I was desperate so I found a pace called earthclinic.com and I read testimonials from people all over the world for a natural cure of a pure lemon juice and organic olive oil cocktail...two ounces of each....

I drank it three times and PRESTO...my kidney stone slid right out!

I tried to tell my doctor about it and he didn't want to hear it. Now when I feel a kidney stone I drink raw lemon juice every day because it breaks it down and you get sand instead of a stone...brilliant!

East you've heard me talk about getting up at 4:30 to jog nearly every morning... and again in the afternoons or evenings... It's not for the health benefits so much as for the endorphins. I just started back in the gym yesterday after messing up my hand in May and going in for a 6 hour surgery on it June 6th. I went to the gym yesterday with the intention of making every muscle in my body ache... just for the endorphins that would come with it.

Without endorphins I'd be a fucked up PTSD vet with a weight problem and self image in the gutter, on anti depressants, maybe a drinking problem, suicidal, pity partying.... but tough shit.... You have to deal with me and my enema bag of sunshine and glitter because I stay high on naturally produced endorphins.

ive just come back from the gym, I went on my own and still pushed myself, tomorrow im with a mate so we push each other where we would normally give up so that's good - im pretty chunky but you don't really see yourself like others do unless your posing in a mirror ,just been to a festival and was worried about getting through a crowd - my mates laughed and said no one is gonna mess with me as im tanked shaped lol..hope that was a compliment - to do one hours exercise out of my day is nothing to feel healthy, it takes effort to start at the gym but it soon gets part of your routine

I have a good deal of damage to the right side of my body (repairs to the shoulder, elbow, wrist, ribcage, hip and knee. I require a good deal of exercise in order to keep everything mobile. This includes cardio, calisthenics, and regular yoga practice.

I also get a get a good deal of exercise through two of my four jobs (farm work and working at a nursery).

Our town doesn't have a gym, but I get to use the one at work and I go 4 - 5 times a week, elliptical, resistance training and I sometimes do a spinning class. I swim often, year round because I also get to use the indoor pool at work (on my own time, not when I'm working lol). There's not a lot to do here except outdoor activities, I run on the days that I don't get to the gym and I enjoy hiking and climbing, skiing and ice hockey in winter.
Staying active is very important to me. If I slack off for a few days, I start feeling like a slug - lethargic and gloomy.
My diet is far from perfect, that's an area that needs waaay more work.

I try to go to the gym every other day, so that would make it 3-4 times a week? Jogging is nicer though. I can listen to music the whole time (also the reason why I end up prolonging my warm-ups at the gym...) I still feel relatively gloomy and frustrated all the time though >_>

I have done labor type work most of my life, from my first job working the tobacco Fields, through construction to my current job of tending the lawn/hedges etc around here.

I weigh in at 145 pounds now... I'm still over 6' tall, was 6'2" and if I ever got my spine straightened they said I would be 6'4" So for my expected height and my build I'm underweight...

forget building muscle. In my early 30's I did serious heavy lifting and had a routine, I worked twice as hard to get minimal results... My genetics are such that building mass is far, far harder than just losing it.... LOL

Bowyn I know what you're talking about with the difficulties putting on muscle... I'm 6'5" and lost down from 190# at my prime form at 19 to 160# by the time I was 22...all cuz of stressing over a man. I'm an ectomorph and have to work twice as hard as most guys to get half the results. HINT: I keep 2 one gallons milk jugs of water on either side of the chair I'm sitting in now. When I'm reading with my hands free, I'm curling them to build my arms and tweeking my sphincter for something else! LOL.

Uneunsae, Tai chi is great I did qigong I was doing Wu shu style, Pai lum kung fu known as White Dragon, this was actually a mix from China and Hawaiian styles. also Karate shorin ryu, which is much different than kung fu.
However, everyone that works out,--It's all GOOD. Wink
