Yes, corporate office life might be okay for some, but it actually sucked the life right out of me. Some of us are made to do very specific things. I believe truly in my heart that I am supposed to practice medicine and so that's what I'm going to do.
The corporate office environment is actually quite unhealthy. Only a few companies have tried to change their workplace to make it better for employees.
Needing to play bills doesn't mean we should be absolutely miserable. Some people truly believe that being miserable is actually the thing that pays the bills. However, it's the paycheck you receive for your hard work and skills that pays the bills.
Most of us don't mind working our asses off. I, for one, get very focused and immersed in my work. Working in a terrible environment is a totally different matter.
As for the OT, I never would have written such an email. Calling out your boss is never going to work, especially in an office environment. Especially not in an email. I've learned that justice has no place at work so if you feel your boss is unjust, it's time to find a new one or just deal with him/her. Or be your own boss if you have that skill set.
