More out of Life

Sorry you can't get more from life.

let me explain.

You like everyone else starts of each day with approximately 24 hours ( I personally get 25, but that is due to my half elf heritage :tongueSmile.

You are already spending your time. If its hoping from Cat-picture site to cat picture site that that is what you are doing. Understand even 'wasting' your time looking at cat pictures is doing something for you, its fulfilling in its own way. So clearly you need it.

Understand that if you want to get more from life that ain't going to happen, you will have to decide to give up Cat Pictures and do something else with that time.

So what in your life are you willing to give up in order to do this 'more' thing?

That is the real question you need to ask yourself.

I'm working on my Masters but I don't want that to be the only thing I get out of life. Love isn't going to happen. The possibility of children is zero. However, I want to get as much out if life as I can.

I was just hoping to get some ideas to fill my personal time.

Thanks.

You're fucking 26 years old dude! Give peace a chance. But you're actually approaching life the right way. Plan your career, plan your financial, but love isn't something you can plan and control, perhaps you'll find it in 2 months, 5 years or even 20 years, but in between you stopped looking and expecting too much and that's when it will really turn up.

I compare this to those buying lottery tickets and wishing they'll win each and every time they check their ticket to see if luck has shined for them, until they stop caring and one day check a ticket that they forgot on their microwave for months and found out it was the winning one.

My big plan is to finish school so that I can help others. I just want to find some new activities that I can enjoy and use to fill time. My goal is that once I'm licensed, I can focus on my physical appearance and use these other activities to balance out the stress.

I know others in GS are tired of me giving this advice but the issue keeps coming up. It all comes from these words I read in a short story...

"If you are not the person you want to spend the rest of your life with you have no right to complain about no one else wanting to do it for you."

It took a while for those words to sink in for me. Once they did I started concentrating on becoming a more complete person and working to overcome my own problems and faults, becoming a better guy in all ways possible. Once I started that it became easy and really very rewarding to see my own acheivements.

I'm not perfect but I'm doing my best to head that direction instead of the other. I dang sure helped me impress the guy I crushed on for over two years and finally got him to say I'd changed and maybe we should try heading into a serious relationship. Next easter will be 5 years and we're getting married in July.

And all your worries about getting hurt? You must really have a very shallow understanding of what love is to believe that. You're going to get hurt so go ahead to Walgreens and buy yourself a lifetime supply of "Get well" cards. You don't know what hurt is until you experience real love. Once you find out what real love is like you'll go through any amount of hurt to keep it.
