I never understood the idea of wanting to hold on to virginity, for me it was just sex. Having sex with someone you care about makes it all the better but in the end holding out for love means you are missing out on some good times.

Just play safe or that will cause regret.

I lost mine to someone whom I thought, at the time was the one. But we only lasted about 3 months so I was wrong. But I would never take it back if I could, cause' he was right at the time.

It is only "sacred" if you want it to be, but not everyone will feel the same way, and rightfully so. Like so many things in the world, there is no right or wrong to this...do what make you feel good and continue to stand up for yourself.

Not if you are sure of what you are doing.. Then there will be no regrets.. Besides, you're first time is you're most memorable.. So why should it be something to regret in the first place?

Now that we have passed the Middle Ages and no longer have to depend on virginity to guarantee the quality of the goods, what's the big deal? I think we make too much fuss. As to making one's commitment to another, that is really a different matter completely.

Hi Verysimple,

First of all, let me commend you for your resolve. It is not easy to keep one's virginity in this day and age, moreso for gay guys like ourselves. As you said, you can get laid anytime if you wanted to, but you CHOOSE not to for your own reasons. That is admirable, and I wish you luck in finding the "one."

Having said that, I don't think that virginity is necessarily a "sacred" thing. On the contrary, I would think that having reasonably good experiences in terms of sex would be a premium for you. Knowing how to please your partner is essential in keeping a healthy relationship. For single guys, it should be more than enough to get you around. Wink wink.

For guys in general, virginity is something to be "ashamed" of because it reflects ignorance and inexperience. In some cultures, having sex is considered as a right of passage and is a requirement for adolescent boys.

I do think it should be something to be ashamed of or something to brag about. It is what it is. Each person should have his own say about what he wants to do with his body, and everybody else should just respect that. It shouldn't be an issue at all.

Hope this helps.
