Why do guys say _____ when they break up?

It's like small talk. Kinda' like to not leave on a bad note. Unless everything was already fucked up. Kind of the same thing with a job you quit. As oppose to making a scene and flipping everybody off, you just make some school excuse so you can leave on a good note and use them as a reference.

I think I might ask this one to the movies sometime next week to see boxtrolls. I don't know if he actually meant to be friends, but I can say there is no romantic feelings between the two of us. There wasn't anything bad between us. I don't know if he meant it, but I might as well find out.

Why bother? You guys gave it a shot, it didn't work out. You parted on good terms. Move on and look forward. Why regurgitate what didn't work?
