Somewhat creepy abandoned places
#1
At least, some of them are, like the church in the Netherlands:

Very cool! I love places like that.

As a kid, both my grandmothers lived on farms. They both had old abandoned houses/barns nearby that I loved to go exploring in.

There is one from Detroit in there, of course. Being someone from the Detroit area, here we are very familiar with abandoned buildings. There is probably no place in the world where famous for its ruin porn than Detroit. People come from all over the world to see and photograph the buildings that were abandoned long ago. I am 48 and some of the abandoned buildings I can't remember being in use.

Here is a photo essay of some of the buildings forgotten and left behind in Detroit. It is sad, but there is also some beauty in the photography. Since these were taken, some have been torn down and some have been or are being refurbished.

Thanks Iceblink, fascinating link. I have seen other similar sites and they all have a really terrible and sad beauty.

I've always been fascinated by abandoned buildings and the history behind them and their cities. Unfortunately, I don't know anyone who'd ever want to explore any with me :'(

Hell yeah! Let's find the creepiest places first.
Poveglia perhaps?

I remember seeing a Disney Channel(?) special years and years ago for their "13 days of Halloween" thingy, where they got a family to go and do an over night stay walking throughout the buildings on the island. Beautiful, creepy, terrifying and spectacular all in one episode. Not to mention that it was a black family with some very colorful antidotes when confronted by the unseen. And the grandmother was downright hilarious! Ride
