Hemp For Victory (1942) U.S. Department of Agriculture

An informational film produced to encourage farmers to grow hemp for the war effort during WW2. The film details the many industrial uses of hemp, including cloth and cordage, as well as a detailed history of the plant's use. Was required viewing for all US farmers during WWII by federal mandate.

So why is it so vilified today?

There are a lot of hemp stores and products here in California. I think that there is a lot of propaganda surrounding the fake war on drugs and hemp got caught in the middle of it.

Such a pity since it is far, far more ecological than cotton. Cotton needs an enormous quantity of water to cultivate whereas hemp does not. Given California's present drought, it would be a sensible crop to grow.

I remember reading that marijuana is a kind of hemp. Not all hemp is marijuana but all marijuana is hemp. The hemp that is usually used to make things doesn't have the right chemical balance to smoke. It has the chemical that makes you high but not in a high enough does to do it, like a marijuana plant.

The reason is politics, Londoner. I am fuzzy on the details, but basically a bunch of fear mongers ganged up on it and pot and drove them underground.
I bid NO Trump!
