I'm stunned how many people think this is a love song. I tell them "Have you LISTENED to the lyrics?"

They probably thought "Every Breath You Take" was a love song, too. Smile

That's like saying "Born in the USA" is patriotic.

Oh, and back to the original topic...

One of my facebook friends posted that he was bought a book for writers, which basically on each page asks you to write about something or other. He's using it to try to help him with his SONGwriting. He posted a picture of a page that said "What was the last thing that made you upset?", and said "I'm challenging all my friends to take part in this. Please write a song about this topic, and record yourself singing it, and post it on my page."

...which is why I'm halfway done with my song "Garbanzo Doesn't Serve Soup Anymore".

Folks, we've been in the business for twenty years. You're my friends - I want you to know that.

I started getting Diana Ross's posts now on Facebook and even though I know I love her...I kinda lost touch with it...but she reminded me of something and I forgot all about this song...I used to love to listen to it when I was trying to get past a HUGE thing in my life many years ago..and now I remember why I loved her....

[I]
I can't cover up my feelings in the name of love
Or play it safe for a while that was easy
And if living for myself is what I'm guilty of
Go on and sentence me, I'll still be free

It's my turn to see what I can see
I hope you'll understand this time's just for me
'Cause it's my turn with no apologies
I've given up the truth to those I've tried to please

But now it's my turn
If I don't have all the answers
At least I know I'll take my share of chances
Ain't no use in holdin' on when nothin' stays the same

So I'll let it rain 'cause the rain ain't gonna hurt me
And I'll let you go 'though I know that won't be easy
It's my turn with no more room for lies
For years I've seen my life through someone else's eyes

And now it's my turn
To try and find my way
And if I should get lost
At least I'll own today

It's my turn
Yes, it's my turn

And there ain't no use in holdin' on
When nothin' stays the same
So I'll let it rain 'cause the rain ain't gonna hurt me
And I'll let you go 'though I know that won't be easy

It's my turn to see what I can see
I hope you'll understand this time's just for me
'Cause it's my turn to turn and say goodbye
I sure would like to know that you're still on my side

'Cause it's my turn
It's my turn

It's my turn to start from number one
Trying to undo some damage that's been done
But now it's my turn to reach and touch the sky
No one's gonna say at least I didn't try

It's my turn
Yes, it's my turn

East...I love that song, not sure if that or the Theme From Mahogany is my favorite Diana Ross...but the lyrics that are most meaningful to me...Stevie Nicks, Landslide...
So yeah...into the oldies lol...

I took my love, I took it down
Climbed a mountain and I turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow covered hills
Till the landslide brought me down

Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changing ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?

Oh, I don't know,
Ah, I don't know

Well, I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older and I'm getting older too

Sooo..

I've been afraid of changing
'Cause I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Children get older, I'm getting older too
Oh yes, I'm getting older too

So, would you take this love, take it down
Oh, if you climb a mountain and turn around
If you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down

And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down, down
And if you see my reflection in the snow covered hills
Well, the landslide bring it down
