Hi everyone!

As some of you already know, my sister and her fiance have been waiting for their little critter to arrive for the longest time now...and I'm proud to share that their baby boy arrived yesterday afternoon. All 7 pounds and 10 ounces of pure love and innocence. I feel like we all have been waiting and holding our breaths as my sister's been past her due date and the doctors suggested inducing labor if he didn't arrive within the next few days.

I can't believe I am an uncle now, it seems a bit surreal and I am so happy for my sister and my soon to be brother-in-law. He and I had never seen eye-to-eye on a lot of things but I'm willing to put it all behind us with our new little addition to the family. My nephew and I will be the closest in age in the immediate family and I hope to be good role model...

Just wanted to share the excitement!

LUCKY YOU! Being an Unk is a blast, man! I've got 2 nieces (soon to be 16 and all girlie and 13 total tomboy into camo, sports and baseball hats) who I've spoiled -- they text and email nearly everyday. Then my brother and his wife messed up and had a little boy in 2009 that I've totally corrupted. His sisters are wise to my tricks now but they played along this past summer when I took all three of them out prospecting for gems, fossils and arrowheads (that I'd planted beforehand) My nephew went biserk finding all the stuff. hahahhaha! When he gets mad with his parents now and tells them to call me to come get him. The kicker was that I didn't tell anyone I bought a kiddie seat for my motorcycle until he and I drove up at my parents' house with him in a helmet and leather jacket. Put a small kid on a motorcycle and they become rulers of the universe.

RUIN HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You can make memories for him that he'll talk about for the rest of his life!

Haha, these pretty much. I like the joy of being around the little critters, but without the responsibilities that ultimately belongs to the parents! I've already spoiled my younger cousins rotten...I'm sure it'll pretty much be the same with my nephew.

I have a gay uncle as well and he was wonderful and I'd say pivotal to me coming out as a teen. He was the first I talked to.

Congrats, and welcome to the club! I became a "great uncle" when my niece had her son (Trenton Scott) in November of last year. On the 30th he'll be a year old.
