Curious in Newbury, Berkshire
#1
Hi,

Can anyone recommend any good places near Newbury to meet up with like-minded guys ?

I'm not really interested in one-off encounters (so it appears that most of the "dating" sites are off the table) - any suggestions ?

Many thanks

Welcome to the site!

I don't know Newbury from Cadbury, actually. Smile But I'll tell you this. Most "curious" guys seem mainly to be interested in the physical side of things. After all, a sexual encounter lasts just part of a day, but a relationship is something more complete, more long-term. It's sort of like the difference between "trying a restaurant", and "trying working at a restaurant". Most restauranteurs would be happy to let you sample their wares, but a lot fewer would be willing to have you just "try out working there"...especially since "curious" seems to indicate a definite possibility of getting a "well, that was OK, but I guess it's not for me" once that curiosity was satisfied.

Not saying all this to demean your position, mind you. But if you really and truly are interested in trying dating a guy, I'd perhaps suggest no longer saying you're "curious", as that suggests you're not that serious about a potential relationship. Just a thought. Smile

Again, welcome!

"curious" is a really nondescript and vague way to identify yourself unless you find being nondescript and vague to your advantage.

It could mean you're married and only looking for someone to appease your curiosity. No offense but a 49 year old guy who's curious about anything having to do with sex is a bit odd. It could mean that you've been sampling too much gay porn and just want to experiment.

So when you say you want to find like minded men.. men who are equally nondescript and vague .. I'd send you to an all male masquerade ball at a Unitarian church.

Well, either you do what some people do, and join a sex group, or you join another group, interested in an activity that you enjoy yourself: singing, acting, cake making, sports (any kind), dancing, knitting tea cosies, you name it... I'm guessing that's one way of getting to know other (and new) people, and that 's the way to make it known that you're "looking".
It's easier to tell complete strangers that you're into meeting up with other same-minded men, so if they know anybody, or if they are themselves looking ... it's a great way of getting the word out.
Anyway, it's no waste of time making new friends.
