Up until about 1994. Around about 1994 nearly every engine starting coming out with on board computers thus you needed to hook it up to diagnostic machinery and whatnot.

Before 1980 there was far less smog - lots of room in the engine compartment.

So if its an older vehicle, yes - definitely. lets pull it, rebuild it, re-bore it - by pass all of that useless smog stuff and see what she gots.

Newer cars - um no.
