The start day of the ultimate failure that was Market Garden...

Does anybody else think that the order of the Normandy landings should have been reversed?

Then the Americans would be heading for the Low Countries, where their high mobility, almost-arrogant high morale (yet still rather inexperienced) would encounter less geographical obstacles. I bet they could have retaken Antwerp, Utrecht and secure the Schelde faster.

And the Brits would be heading for Metz, Strasbourg and then Aachen, without being so utterly caught by surprise when the Germans launched the Ardennes Offensive, and could have performed better than the Americans in establishing fast beacheads across the Rhine...

Anyway

TPBM was utterly annoyed by all this previous ranting...
