Age/era is not a criterion I use to assess the quality of music, and can't imagine why so many people seem to do so. Most of my favorite music is from before I was born, sure. But the curmudgeonly "there's no good music anymore" complaints are just as irksome as the "eww that's oldies" complaint - it's not the fault of today's many many music scenes that they judge everything based on today's top 40.
