BNP Member Names revealed.

All things considered, though, it wouldn't surprise me for a suggestion to have been dropped in a deniable ear.

I'm rather glad it's blown up in their collective faces - I've yet to see any sympathetic angle from the press.

Racist, homophobic, white-supremacist idiots...

Sorry if I'm being thick, but I'm not sure how that helps the discussion along. I don't understand how you see it ends it

National pride does not have to equal racism. The BNP seems to have grown out of the roots of the obnoxious National Front and, like the NF, they hijacked concepts and symbols of national pride and recognition for their own ends.

The BNP must not be allowed a foot in the door. We have a responsibility to understand what their policies would lead to, just as other political parties have a responsibility to deal with those areas of concern that dupes ordinary people into thinking that the BNP have the answers to their problems.

I, for one, am very grateful that the National Front is allowed a small counter-demonstration presence at Pride marches. Seeing those jackbooted, paramilitary, skinhead thugs reminds me of what lies at the heart of all those clean-cut, suit-wearing leaders of the British National Party and it makes me shudder to my very core.

I don't fully subscribe to Woolfe's assessment of acceptable fallout from publishing details of rank and file membership. Everyone has at some time in their lives been guilty of an error of judgement. Most of these have not led to any criminal act. We should all have the opportunity to recognise our mistakes and move on. Those guilty of breaking the law should be pursued with as much force as it takes. However, I do think that those in positions of leadership and authority (within which I include those employed in public service, some of whom have contracts forbidding membership of political parties [I had such a job for several years]) should be made accountable for belonging to a political movement that has the destruction of our way of life at its very heart.

Thanks marsh that is the nost sensible thing said in this discussion. However my Dad asked me put this in on his behalf. He has been constantly targeted by a sub group of the BNP called Redwatch. They basically go out of thier way to obtain names, adresses and phone numbers of gays and socialists. They have sent my dad deathreats, abusive phonecalls and thrown bricks through his window(please bear in mind he lives with my young brothers both of who had abusive calls from the BNP/Redwatch). Im not saying we should retaliate but remember the lessons of history. The nazi party in germany was very small but grew to mass proportions on the back of disillusionment and economic crisis. We should not allow the BNP to appear respectable they are racists in suits. As my old Anti nazi league t shirt read NEVER AGAIN.

There's two sides to this discussion, one being, if they want to follow this pathway they shouldn't be ashamed that they have to hide :S

But then the other side is, has giving out these details crossed the line? How would you feel to have so many people access all these details on you? I'd personally feel horrible, I like having some privacy in my life.

But overall I think it was a step too far, as it could potentially drag innocent people into it.

(Sorry if im late :$)
