First Date! HELP

Im going on a date with someone and I was going to do something simple like dinner and a movie is that a good idea ?

Dinner and a movie sounds like a great second date. Both those activities are rather long and there's no gracious way to cut it short if things are not working.

For a first date maybe something like get coffee or tea at a cafe around 4:00. Then if it's going well you can catch an early dinner or movie. If it's not going well then you're done and gone in 20 minutes and only out $10.

I like Camfe's answer - if you have know this guy for years and just got together then your idea is great , but if its someone new to you then something simple for the first time may be better, a bit of small talk and a coffee etc just to get to know each other then you can part ways easier than if you were stuck in a movie if you don't click - you can always have a bigger second date
