Great post East...I would like to recommend...Patti Austin and Dianne Reeves. I have all of these two singers discography...and in regard to highlights from them is very difficult for me to do...but I do love Patti's CDs..."The Real Me", which includes one of my favorites "I Can Cook Too", "Carry On" awesome CD which includes her version of CSN&Y's "Carry On" where she does all the vocals on this...AWESOME...Avant Gershwin and For Ella ...are treasures just as well...and the delectable "Moody's Mood For Love" just a few of hers to mention although anything by her is impeccable in my opinion..Dianne Reeves...I love her...two of my favorites are; "Never Too Far" and "Hello! Haven't I've Seen You Before" and her concert favorite that brings the house down "Better Days"...so, check them out if you get the chance and let me know what you think....JS

OK...I will admit I loved Donna Summer until she said what she said about AIDS and how we deserved to die as a punishment from God....now I can't stand her. Yeah..I burned her records along with everyone else at the time....

So...please forgive me...I just can't put her here.,...but I am cool if you or anyone else does Smile

Hey..no problem East...I understand..forgive me though because I had no idea that you felt that way about her. I recall hearing something about this and I know the sales of her music suffered big time. However, I also remember when she went on a publicity tour several years prior to her death and had interviewed with Matt Lauer as well and mentioned that she was misquoted during that interview and she would had never said those things about gay people because it has been gay people who had made her career. She even did a concert here for Gay Pride weekend here and during the concert she made mentioned of this again and ask the community to forgive her...and they welcomed her back in a big way. The concert was amazing and she even brought a lot of guys on stage to dance with her. This was the last Gay Pride at that time that I celebrated and it was special since it was the last one that I attended with my partner before he passed away the next year. Prior to his death, she came back to town and did a concert here at one of the popular theaters here in the city and it sold out and the audience mostly consist of gay people which she made acknowledgement of onstage and then invited them onstage during her second encore. Afterwards, I assumed from what I've seen and read about her concert tour that the gay community accepted her apology and embraced her once again which was displayed in her record sales for the last recordings she mad which went to the top of the dance charts simultaneously and the last album "Crayons" as well. After her death, VH1 did a documentary on her life which featured her close friends, family members, etc. who also mentioned this story and how it had such an effect on her because they said the story was inaccurate. So..for me...I tend to believe her. Now, whether her response was true or not...I guess I will never know but I chose to forgive her and enjoy her music to the fullest because we all know at the end of the day...there are so many celebrities that have been accused of saying something that was misquoted. Again...no need to apologize..you are entitled to feel the way you feel...besides ...this is your discussion post that you started and I have nothing but respect for you and your musical taste...JS

I can respect that POV...a lot of people agree with you...and maybe you are right...I wasn't there so I have to take the word of the eyewitness...and the fact that's she had just turned Born Again Christian leads me to my conclusion...

I am shocked that she did Gay Pride. I don't think she would be very welcome here...we had a BIG FIRE...but most of those guys are dead already Sad

Oh yeah..I wouldn't care if you posted her..or anyone..here. I don't need anyone to agree with me...(except about Ronald Reagan LOL) I already kinda like her a wee bit more because she gave you and your partner a great time..and a great memory.....

I wish I could bring myself to post her for you......

I just found Idris Muhammad LP...been years..forgot all about it. I used to LOVE this song..still do. This is R&B flavored jazz....

Hey East..I totally understand and respect your decision...and I hope I am not sounding like I am trying to persuade you into posting her when your heart is not in it. ...That is not my intent...I just was sharing my memory of her and why I love her so much...I always go back to those memories of my late partner when I hear her name or her music on the radio or in the club...It's a good memory for me....However, I honestly do respect your decision and respect it as well.
