My IT expert just came back from his honeymoon with his wife and he told me how clean were the public restrooms (for which there was almost always a queue), absolutely spotless. He was a little confused after washing his hands to find that there were no towels or hand dryers and then he observed that the Japanese carried small had towels with then for their personal use. Another thing that surprised him that the Japanese that had dogs, not only collected their excrement but afterwards, produced another small hand towel to wipe the dog's arse!

Those Japanese lavatories (no, not the one you illustrated) are available in some European countries but they are terribly expensive. The Japanese seem to have got it down to a real art.
