Why is this news? Her party is the CDU (Christian Democratic Union). No party that labels itself "Christain" has ever moved human rights along out of its own volition. Christian to them means 'our', so Christian values are instead their current moral values, their evolution is not part of the program.

A man and a woman (or any other combination) 'living together' is cohabitation, it's not marriage. Lots of married couples don't live, don't even sleep in the same space, sometimes. Marriage is something else, but 'living together' is not the definition.
With that simplistic definition, then a son and mother would be 'married', civil partnerships would also be marriages in many cases. Silly definition that doesn't look at the world at large.
