I use the FireFox browser as well, but in addition to Adblock Plus I also use NoScript. NoScript essentially blocks out all the script that runs in the background of every page you visit, and a lot of nasty Malware hides in that script. It is a bit tricky, but its also saved my old laptop from incubating nasty viruses.
