Hard to imagine something more horrific

you shouldn't worry about that. it's not gonna be biggest cruise ship for long. soon we will have cruise ships able to accommodate 10,000 passengers. you know, you're not gonna meet and befriend even a fraction of those people, and it won't be essentially any different than a cruise ship that can take 2,500, but hey -- it is the biggest cruise ship in the world. have to get on that! that's the people's mentality with that.

Maybe it's because basically I am a lone wolf traveller. I enjoy sharing experiences but very rarely meet people who share my same interests (or I share theirs), or have the same economic freedom as I. The mere thought of being in the "company" of 5,000 people whose sole interest lies in organised excursions, shopping and eating would drive me to absolute distraction. It's a bit late, I'm not writing too well and I should go to bed-

me too. i either travel alone or with a very very close friend. even being locked on a tourist bus with 40 people would be a nightmare to me. they are strangers and i don't want to share my personal time with a bunch of strangers.

sweet dreams.

ShiftyNJ Wrote:I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anybody who cruises but ESPECIALLY if you are going solo to go to http://www.cruisecritic.com as soon as you are booked and sign up for the "roll call" ... we did this on that same cruise I mentioned, and I was able to talk with other people who would be on the ship at the same time. I am not great at breaking the ice with strangers in person but I had about 14 people with whom whom I'd already been chatting... one couple, who had been to the islands before, planned a few great shore excursions and invited me to join them; I had a really nice time (none of my actual travel companions group to go, and they missed out.
All of that sounds like fun.. ShiftyNJ
I'll confess something to you.. and you only.

Believe it or not..
I'm incredibly shy..
You've seen my conversations in the threads..
I mean as a businessman..I respectively engage my clients.. but outside of that and my "off line friends circle" I'm pretty much hiding in a corner..lol

The sad thing is if I were to do that cruise..
I could go the entire trip without talking to anyone and be extremely happy..

I'm a weirdo..
I know..

Cruises appear in my nightmares.....

It would be my idea of a personal hell to go on a cruise....

Activities planned by someone else for my enjoyment.....fuck that.....I love opening my own doors....

I see a few things wrong.
#1 . I wouldn't go on a cruise where I'd have a view of 6 story hotel fifty feet out my window.
#2 . Who's down below to catch the unlucky person when the yellow tube on the top deck water park breaks?
#3 . It would be hard for me to relax with 20 tons of water right over my head in swimming pool.
#4 . 18 lifeboats divided by 5000 passengers makes Titanic sound like a comedy movie.
#5 . No parking deck.

My boyfriend is pretty much the same way. On our last cruise he got off the ship only once, and spent much of his time on our stateroom balcony with his computer.
