I'm doing everything I can to keep my distance ... It's fine though, they don't bother me/ get to me anymore.. I'll be fine and do good till it all ends and I can finally get the hell away from here !

So you think someone talking about his problems and expressing his frustration is unmanly. Well in fact bottling up all your anger and sadness until it explodes and harms the people around you is childish, pathetic and very unmanly. This sort of fucking "thinking" drives me up the wall it's the reason why men on average wait far longer to go to the doctor leading to much lower cancer survival rates in men than women. Why the male suicide rate is always much higher. Because of this whole "talking is weakness just solve your problems yourself" attitude,

Does that sound like the reaction of a immature drama queen to you? He's found a practical solution to his problem and he's deploying it.

Now I mean this seriously. Have you ever lived with someone verbally abusive before? I have. The insults just keep piling up. it never fucking ends and it just grinds you down. It spoils all your good moods and makes your bad days far worse. It seriously lowers you're standard of living and it's not something that can be magically wished away by "manning up".

WTF man no one is saying the world is against him, he actually mentioned a few people in particular. If fact this whole post is about one person his zealot dad. How do you get "the world is against me" from that.

Ikr ?? I don't get it with him... He must be seriously living a very unhealthy lifestyle to come off like this. But from my own experience I can believe people like him exist... Thank you so much for standing up to me, but I can see that his own life must be seriously messed up for him to think like that!

Camfer Wrote:Yes, keep away as much as you can. Try to live on a different schedule in the same house. When things are really bad, stay at a friend's house for the night.

I think with enough compromises you can find a way to move out right now. I grew up in an emotionally abusive household. At one point after I left, I lived in a one bedroom apartment with 6 other people. I slept on a cold hard floor with my friend. There were 2 beds, 2 people in each of those beds, and one person on an air mattress in the hallway. He would blow up the mattress each night and have to deflate it in the morning so people could get from the bedroom to the kitchen. When some people went to work early I could actually sleep in a bed for a couple hours. We survived on rice and beans and stale pita that one of my roommates brought from his work. For me, it was the right decision. It was insanely crowded in that apartment, but I had emotional support, I was happier, and I wasn't homeless.

Now, you asked for no advice here, so forgive me for this suggestion. Have you considered a martial art training such as Brazilian jiu jitsu? I mention this for a number of reasons. In BJJ you can learn to defend yourself. It gives you an activity out of the house. It gives you something positive to focus on. It gets you into a community of positive, disciplined people, if you find the right academy. Part of the philosophy is to know how to fight so you don't have to fight.

The only reason I don't ask for advice is cuz I don't want to trouble you guys with my life issues. lol, I'd be more than glad to get any kind of advice on here. I've never heard of that martial art but I'll take a look into it. The think about you moving out to an apartment with one bedroom and six people sounds like a tough time yet I'd totally go for it if everyone there was supportive and kind. Surround yourself by the energy you want to be in and I choose to be around people who are like you! Hence, I disown my home, my family and everything here cuz the place where you grew up doesn't have to be your home.

Verysimple, we care about your emotional and physical well being. I don't see how you've ever troubled us here. You should feel free to ask for advice when you need it.

When I read about you growing up in an emotionally abusive situation, it takes me back 30 years as if it were yesterday. I remember all the strategies of avoidance, I remember all the things I could never bring up for honest conversation, because it just made things worse. I remember playing the good son, having to pretend that everything was fine. I remember trying to find adults who could be my mentors, helping me think through the issues I was facing. I developed an inner strength that serves me well even today. While I was despondent at times, my spirit was never broken. Even now, I am an optimist. I got through it and am in a great place now.

Not sure if you have youtube in Jordan, but look up Rener Gracie Jiu Jitsu if you can. He's always fun to watch and combines an intensity in his jui jitsu with a playfulness. He's a gifted teacher. His brother Riron has a quieter personality and is equally a master of the sport.
