How happy are you?!

supasyd Wrote:when people tell me to be positive or that things are going to be ok I get annoyed sometimes. It's like being force fed saccharin by barney the dinosaur for me. I'd rather people were just honest and say yeah things are shit. I find this a lot more comforting and its a real breath of fresh air when I find these people. This can turn a 4 into a 5 or 6 for me.

No, Things aren't shit. Life isn't shit. The WHOLE WORLD doesn't have to be shit just cuz you think so and would like it to be..
Life is what you see things. I prefer to see them all colorful and cheery. It isn't a wonderland because shit happens everywhere all the time. It is up to us to decide how to deal with things. So if you find comfort in negativity; good for you. Me, negativity turns an 8 into a 4.. I ought to know, I've been living in a negative place my whole life.

10 is perfect! As long as you're a 10 most of the time.. But the 0... Shouldn't that go up when it is this low?!

I've been a pessemist since I knew how to talk. It's just the way my mind works. I have very strong bullshit detectors. I am cynical. I call things as I see them. It's like when I'm approached by overly joyful mormons preaching at me on the street I always ask them what trauma they must have experienced as a child. I don't buy it.

I read this post .. Definitely caught my attention. .

No one is born unhappy. .
It's not genetic..
Unhappiness at an early age is usually im correlation to your up bringing , environment or circumstances.
The mind of a child is not negative or unhappy by default.

Children are extremely impressionable, ...social sponges.

Having a b.s. detector. . Or being cynical does not equate unhappiness. .. Having traumatic experiences will not immediately "make" someone unhappy. .

~>Unhappiness is a decision<~
The cynicism you described in your post is a manifestation of negativity. . Not unhappiness!

Happiness is earned, it's a decision, a state of mind.
Happiness is a destination, a strife..

Happiness is gratuity in it's purest form.
Happiness begins with a painful state of enlightenment. followed by acceptance then letting go.

Most people think they are happy are confusing happiness with contentment.
An unhappy individual that judges another for being content, enlightened or happy is just a bitter human being.

My post is not judgement. .
It is not a guess..
It is a result of personal experience , councelling, enlightenment, acceptance gratitude .. and letting go.

Happiness knows no scale.

As for yours, like it or not, mine is a continuous and unbreakable 10. Don't ask why, it is every second.

For the last month about a 3 or 4. Business is slow and it has me worried to the point of bad anxiety issues but when you own your own business, that's how it goes. Today is about a 5 or 6. Leaving for Disneyland Saturday. First time on a plane in 40 years. My boyfriends family is paying for everything! Hopefully this will be the break I need to come back with fresh eyes.
I can EXPLAIN it to you but I can't UNDERSTAND it for you

I believe people can be genuinely happy, but the ones who always go on about how happy they are and how great everything is are usually trying to cover up something dark. If you are unhappy its far healthier to be honest about it. When people are genuinely happy or content they dont feel the need to bang on about it, in my experience.
