on October 31st an asteroid ca 400 m across (1,300 ft) will pass by the Earth at a distance of about 487,000 km (302,000 mi). this is 1.3 times the distance to the Moon! it is the biggest asteroid to pass the planet this close in the next 12 years!
it'll get closest to the planet around 17.00 UTC, Oct 31. it shouldn't be visible with the naked eye, so having a telescope is recommended, or visiting an observatory is that is possible. but it is also possible to watch it live on the internet:

i think this is a romantic thing to do, especially with your preferred male company.
