Thawoods, this guy would actually look better without the facial hair. It is just too sparse to form a strong impression.

He could also use some pointers in how to match up a tie and a shirt collar, but that is a common problem these days.

and about the tie and shirt collar, you are right. the shade blends well with the jacket and not with the shirt. ties stand out more when they contrast with the shirt and not the jacket.

And the tie needs to be snugged up against the collar so that the button is covered. You will notice this on an amazing number of TV characters. It seems to be some sort of current reaction to the fact that wearing a tie and fitted collar is not a comfortable affair unless they are really well measured. Ah well, so much for what used to be the well dressed man.
