Do you seriously think that Sanders or any other president could get single payer healthcare enacted in a single term or even four terms?! The Republicans and their corporate healthcare buddies will make hash of such an idea in short order. Though I can agree with your ideals it is time to get real. Sanders is living in the 1960's. I can applaud the ideas but not their chance of prevailing in a Congress that has raised inaction to an art form.
I bid NO Trump!

Confuzzled4 Wrote:Well the issue as it is we are spending 16% of the GDP on healthcare and the life expectancy and outcomes are rather poor, generally worse than most other industrialized nations. Countries with a national healthcare system somehow manage to pay a smaller percentage of their GDP towards healthcare and have better outcomes. That's not to say that it is the answer, but why is it such a bad thing to try when it seems to be working for everybody else? I think there are other things that must be done to help the general health of this country, for example all the crap food is cheap in this country, but the healthier options are usually more expensive. However, how healthcare is delivered in this country seriously needs to be looked at.

So don't eat crap food. All that information is readily available.

Half the country wants free everything and the other half doesn't. How exactly does Sanders change that equation?

I keep forgetting to add that I don't believe Bernie Sanders can beat Trump.

Time will tell.

Bernie Sanders captures tons of the independents for a reason, he would absolutely perform better against Trump than Hilary would. In addition, Hilary is the only person in the entire race who has just as much, if not more dirt, as Trump so I think it's premature to say she'd win by a landslide. I think despite everything Trump would manage to make it a close race and beat her.

How is Clinton dirty? Is it because she's a woman?

How is Trump dirty for that matter? That he's unapologetic and outrageously outspoken is his strong suit, I'd say. You seem to underestimate how appealing that is to the folks in this country who will always vote regardless of the outcome. He's white, likes guns, and peddles the idea that he's anti-tax. That's all he need to be. The only thing that might hurt him at this point is if he starts behaving like a typical politician.

Sanders captures the attention of those folks who don't normally vote. Change. Change. Change. I've heard that one before. Would it be enough? I don't believe so. All I know is that I and my fellow avocado heads will most likely have the last word in the CA primary.

I keep saying it. Sanders has some ideas and a lot of drive, but Hillary has her feet planted solidly and can handle his ideas and add huge amounts of foreign policy experience.

I think a lot of the feeling against Hillary is based on her early efforts for healthcare reform in the Bill Clinton administration. The politicos just could not believe that a woman could do something besides make cookies. I give her a lot of credit for moving the position of women in a positive direction. I also think she has the chutzpah to handle Trump in a campaign. Sanders is too "nice" for that.
I bid NO Trump!

If it was 8 years ago...I would have been behind Bernie Sanders....easily....and it isn't because I have anything against Hillary Clinton. A quick visit to snopes.com will show you that most of the crap they have thrown at her for 20 years is false....

What has changed? Mr Obama showed me the beauty of compromise and how he got things done with a hostile Congress...amazing really...

I cannot vote for Bernie for one very specific reason....I fear he will force Democrats all over the USA to commit political suicide and may even turn blue states red...it is a thin margin in some of them. That is not acceptable...

I am also not an anarchist all or nothing guy and I think he has created the Left's version of the Tea Party...and that will NOT end well. I can see a civil war in the near future. Thing is...when 10% of the people own 90% of the wealth..there will be a revolution....sooner or later. I know they want me to think Hillary Clinton is the Devil Incarnate...but I don't. I see a bright and capable woman who I would be proud to have as my Commander in Chief.

Bernie is not at all vetted on a National Stage and the fact that the Republicans want him to run is not comforting. They will slaughter him with negative ads right away....and they will work. Remember..they turned John Kerry who was a hero into a traitor with ease....

Commie Jew Gramps who wants to TAX TAX TAX all of you so illegal Aliens can have a free education.....yeah.....parts of it aren't true....but enough of it is that they will believe anything. Fear is a powerful force...
