Trump or Hillary as President, who else is petrified?

LJay Wrote:@MikeW, I hope you know that Frank Zappa and Daniel Schoor the reporter were buddies. That must have been quite a couple of beers.
I hadn't heard that. But it isn't uncommon for people who achieve celebrity status to at least know one another. They often run in similar social circles. Invited to "all the best parties" and etc. Whether they are in fact "friends"... that might be debatable. In this case I wouldn't know.

I have to agree with all that's been said. I don't think either one would do a good job. Terrible election. The sad thing is that there are so many people supporting trump. If you read some of the comments on Fox News every 4th word is liberal. Absolutely ridiculous what some people think.

Love Frank Zappa.

That reminds me of my cousin who asked why I got into an argument with his dad about FOX News (as his dad was really mad at me over it). So I described how I learned about FOX News and was forced to listen to it for a long while. Among the many unprofessional things they did, I mentioned the use of "weasel words" and insults masquerading as news (when it doesn't even deserve to be called an editorial), including the use of disparaging words with every breath to create a narrative of saints vs. sinners, and added that it should be a drinking game, though the danger of alcohol poisoning would be too real.

The next morning (as I found out later) he walked into his parent's home (in sight of his own, they all work the same farmland together) and found Bill O'Reilly was on, and he said it was just too perfect as he referred to Obama as "the anointed one" (dripping with sarcasm) over and over again. He took out a bottle of whiskey and started taking shots every time O'Reilly said that phrase.

His mother asked him why he was drinking so much so early in the day and he described the drinking game I came up with the previous day--and having to stop for a moment over and over again as it was time to take another shot--and his dad (listening to O'Reilly) came into the kitchen and told him to leave until he could show "proper respect" for FOX News. Laugh

They also said that this shows how I'm a bad influence on him, which made Granny roll her eyes (back when my cousin and I were kids she left me in charge despite that I was 3 years younger because I "had better sense").

Pix I don't have cable anymore, so no more FOX News. However, my folks discovered CBS News live on the internet, it's just as bad. They're all terrible...FOX...it just seems that they know it and don't care.

From what I remember after 9/11 seemed like was the big big change in cable news channels, or really the media at large. That or I just started paying more attention to things.

MikeW, I'm pretty sure that the Zappa/Schorr friendship was beyond casual. It was mentioned both by Schorr and by his colleagues at NPR news when they broadcast his obit.

Trump is racist. I mean vote for Trump by all means, but in my humble opinion and my observation he is very much racist, anti-LGBTQ and among other things. Hillary is a puppet, a criminal and if I had a choice I throw all of them off the ballot and have the whole process done over again.

Trouble is, axle2152, life doesn't allow that. I am wondering what the conventions will bring. After what I read of Romney's donor conference, Trump may find himself without funds. As for Hillary, I think a lot of people an see your viewpoint but the risk of not voting AGAINST Trump is very great indeed. Gary Johnson may find himself with delusions of popularity after the election.

What does this mean?

I thought you meant you were voting for Trump as a big "fuck you" to all of us and the world given how you worded that, but you've repeatedly posted that Trump isn't racist or homophobic since then, and I'm wondering what it is we've "brought on ourselves" if voting Trump isn't your revenge on us. Even if you sincerely believe Trump isn't bigoted (or at least willing to tap into the bigotry of others), surely you don't think Trump is going to champion black fem gay men.

This is both disturbing and in the end liberating....

Also...why would the Japanese have a commercial for Trump anyway? Sounds odd to me...

Warning...there are explosions...
