I had some extra time today and I had threatened months ago to post pics of Fort Pulaski.
So I love history, and this is one of my favorite places ever. Even the story behind it is amazeing! Ill be posting pics for about 30 minutes BUUUT, if you want a good riddle, answer this question.
How does one of the most heavily armed forts of the civil war, containing garrisons of troops, food and water supplies to hopefully outlast an attacker containing plenty of ammunition fire arms surrounded by marsh (imagine attackers trying to push cannons over mud while be shot at!) and TWO motes, HOPELESSLY fall to the Union Army in a matter of hours with few casualties?
^^^ yes tis a good question that one! If you want me to tell you pm me OR research it .
AAAAND now to the pictures!
walking towards the fort about to get on the man made "island" (this island has catacombs underneath to store the majority of the gunpowder in case of a stray enemy cannonball)
The first draw bridge
the island from the fort wall
cannon mounting points on the island so they can turn quickly
Some of the catacombs under the island
