I met a nice guy at school on Tuesday he seems to be pretty much what Im looking for except he is a little taller than me, he's like 5'8. We've been in class for 3 weeks and I saw him I thought he looked gay he was very clean looking and seemed to have a bubbly personality so decided to go for it, and I started chatting him up and mentioned that I was gay and kept on talking and judged his reaction and when he didnt seem put off by it I asked him if he was. His answer was very cute, he winced up his face and said "could you tell ? " we both had a little laugh about it. Anyway the more we talked I found out he is closeted just like me, but to be honest he doesn't do a good job at hiding it, he's not fooling anyone. He is well dressed, and very pretty for a man he is also a little effeminate like he puts his hands on his hips thumbs front, fingers back like a woman and he is a bit on the thin side, he has dark brown hair and a really good haircut in a low fade which I love and he seems to smile alot and I find that really attractive. Im going to be sitting next to him twice a week until mid May hopefully we get to know each other better. Im sort of concerned though if he does like me because Im very attracted to him. I came to terms with myself only two and a half months ago and Im not sure if looking for a man is what I should be doing right now. Its feels right but Im not sure, also if he wants to be my friend that could be weird too because I find him so attractive. He is 28 and lives with his mom I dont mind that at all, but Ive heard women say its a bad sign. I dont know if that is good or bad, he might be a momma's boy, what do you guys think. I see him again tomorrow.

Also I lost 10 more pounds since last post.

I'll ask him out when I get my taxes back, Im too poor right now. I just wasnt sure if I should sort myself out before I try to date. Im a little nervous though because Ive never dated a guy, only women and I wasnt very good at it. Im really good at picking up guys but dating is completely different.

Ok so I had class with that guy I was telling you all about yesterday and we talked today on the phone.

His name is Josh so you guys know. I had been concerned that he was a momma's boy but when we were talking today I found out that he lives with his mother still because he his helping to take care of his brother who is a special needs young man ( Intellectual disability, I'm not sure which I didn't know if it was ok to ask? ). He said that his brother probably has the skills to be semi-independent but he and his mother talked about it and they both said that they would be too worried about him all of the time, which I can understand. He also has a younger sister who is married but she still lives close by.
I was so happy he felt comfortable sharing that with me.
Anyway we both have a lot in common, we are both in the closet which makes things easier, we have both dated women but not men, and we both hate pop country because its terrible music. He is really funny without meaning to be, like he admitted to me that he is a bit of a sissy ( as if I couldn't tell already Smile ) Im really enjoying getting to know him he has such a good personality.
drobs I dont like hiking if I take him out its gonna be for a proper date.

I was thinking he was taking care of mom or family. That happens pretty frequently. U2 could, down the line, get a place together, if it works out.

Don't know till you try.

PS. 5 minutes talking to my partner and you'll know he's gay. I find fem tops somewhat attractive.
Use a condom.

Give Josh a chance to get to know a nice guy. If you like each other that is a great starting point. Both of you being closeted gives you a great deal to talk about!

Remember that there are NO RULES! What works, works. Just be mannerly and kind. You will do well.

Im so nervous I want to talk to him more but I dont want to seem really needy, we just started talking last tuesday. I want to avoid seeming too interested, like a wierdo.

The fact that his brother is special needs scares me. I dont dislike special needs people but Ive never known any so I dont know how to act around them or what to say and I dont want to offend him or his brother. Ive been reading up in intellectual disabilities and I learned that many downs syndrome and ASD people can have strict routines and new things and people can stress them out. So I want to know the do's and don'ts but I dont want to ask Josh. Because he might think "Why are you asking so many questions about my brother, are you interested in me or him?". I hate making others feel uncomfortable.

Also the possibility of sex makes me nervous we are not there yet, but what if we do like each other alot and after a month or two we decided to have sex. At what point do I ask him about his preferences, when we are both naked is probably too late to ask top or bottom, right? How do you guys approach this?

Im just really awkward and stupid about this kind of stuff. Im pretty smooth when it comes to one night stands because its not deeper than sex for to me, but Josh seems really nice and I dont want to use him.
artyboy you have mentioned your physical disability before do you get annoyed when people want to know more about it?

Anybody else with family and friends with intellectual disabilities am I totally off base here, what do you think, is my concern valid? I know I sound like a basket case right now.
