What's the weather like where you are?
#71
May has been pretty dry so far, in fact it has been pretty dry since mid March bar some rain in the last few days of April. Today was sunny, not overly warm though. Have had some frosts this week.

It was about 80 (about 27 C) today, was nice. Perfect weather... That and it being a Friday means that the campgrounds around here are all full. Got to love our county commissioners. Let's roll the dice!

Today it was around 23 C and for me, it's hell. I hate summers with all my heart and just the thought of these three months ahead, filled with sweltering heat, sunshine and bugs, is my worst nightmare. I can't wait for Autumn to come.

We've had measurable rainfall for like a week...Hasn't really got hot yet...Converted everything to metric (rain in cm)...

Hottest day of the year so far today with 27°C the high. Dry and sunny. More of the same over the next several days. Still barely a drop of rain in May so far.

Is this a result of Arthur and now Bertha? I seem to remember you lived in either South or North Carolina unless I am mistaken?

@Cridders88 Crazy, the last several years here January through May have been exceptionally wet, January is one of the wettest months here. Usually starts to dry out by the end of July and here lately dry Autumns. I like summer, just don't look forward to the humidity. That's what makes it unbearable...highs 35+ with 60% humidity is kind of rough if you're not in a pool!

@Cridders88 I do live in North Carolina. I'm in the far western part of the state...annnnnd looking at the satellite I guess it has influenced the weather some, mainly cloud cover....but probably not so much in the rain category...just odd weather patterns...

I am with you on the humidity, unfortunately being surrounded by ocean on this island means the heat over here is rarely dry, it can be quite oppressive. Luckily the heat we are experiencing at the moment is being delivered by drier easterly winds off continental Europe so it has been a little more bearable.

Here, Winters are normally wet and Summers are obviously drier, however, even the Summer months can be quite wet sometimes. Summer 2007 springs to mind where the rain was relentless and there was flooding. We had a really wet Winter this year, and the wettest February on record for some parts of the UK (12.5cm here so not as bad as some parts). Mother nature always seems to he balance things out though and it has been unusually dry since Mid March. We have recorded 0.04cm of rain so far this May which is exceptionally dry by UK standards haha. And especially so for my location in the UK (southwest).

Are you Autumns drier because the tropical storms tend to focus more to the south in the Caribbean in the mid Autumn?

Edit: I thought I had remembered correctly! I guess Arthur brushed the coast and Bertha has hit further south in South Carolina, I expect you will get some of her remnants though as she is moving northwards.

I can't seem to see the attachment to your post Sad

Yeah I noticed that about the attachment. I tried in another thread to add a screenshot and did basically the same thing. I guess I need to summon @andy about the attachments not working. Not sure what the problem is the URL it uses doesn't actually point to the image so something only the php scripting knows....even in the source.

@Cridders88 I can't say I studied the climate here to know why that is... During the fall we typically see cold fronts that come down from Canada which often brings colder, drier air, but can get southerly flow as the cold fronts approach... You know, I probably ought to look into that so I can give you a better answer. As far as the tropics go we typically see most of that in September and early October....but Halloween the tropics are usually done, but you never know sometimes.
